Roadrunners, We Are Proud of YOU!

Off We Go!

Thank you Westwood families for supporting your students as we start our 20-21 adventure. It was great to see you all at materials distribution. The teachers loved meeting all of you. I know it has been a bumpy start. But, working as a team we will get things rolling along soon.

I am hoping by the time you are receiving this you have been able to work out any hiccups with zoom. Please be sure to follow the suggested strategies below to work through it. We have been told that the IT hotline was taken down and many families are getting an auto-reply that reads "contact the school site to exchange chromebook." Unfortunately, we have a waiting list of over 100. So this is not possible at this time. Most issues can be resolved with the steps we have included below.

Happy New Year!

Tech Tidbits

Things We Have Learned

As your office staff, we are trying our best to learn the Virtual Learning process of accessing Zoom in order to try and assist our Roadrunner families. Miss Mary observed a few students during the log in process to try and visually see how things look through a parent/student's eyes. Here is what we have learned through students, parents and staff all trying to work through the glitches. We hope some of this will help.

Third times a charm - For many, trying to log into MyPlan takes 3 times before it recognizes the username and password. So patience is the key and keep trying. We aren't sure why this happens.

"Internal" access message when joining a zoom meeting - Some are getting this message when trying to join Zoom. Just "x" out of the message and you should see the "Waiting for Host..." message. If not, try again.

Accessing Zoom meeting link - There are two ways. It is recommended to go through Canvas. Start in MyPlan, then go to Canvas, then to your student's teacher, then to Daily Schedule, click on the day of the week and then click on Zoom link for that day. The link can change daily depending on teacher set up. The second way is through MyPlan and then click on Zoom. With this access, YOU MUST HAVE Meeting number and Meeting password. This information should be in your class daily schedule.

Below are screen shots of how to control the Zoom meeting volume for the microphone (student) and the speaker (teacher).
