CHS9 Staff Bulletin 10-4-19
"Everyone. Everyday. Whatever it takes."
BOO...
Gorka's Gab
Thank you all for joining in and enjoying the HC festivities this week! I hope you enjoyed the hamburger luncheon today. I thought it would be a nice way to end the week by visiting with others in the library! Thank you Mrs. Hill-Derkowski and her classes for preparing our toppings and Ms. Heck for hosting us!
Thank you all for assisting with the pep rally! Your assistance makes it a safe and enjoyable experience for our kids!
I think we scared Coach Neal! The "Hospitality Committee" hopes y'all enjoy getting around the building to "Boo" one of your fellow CHS9 teammates! Please follow the instructions to keep the process going all month. Our hopes is that everyone in the building gets "Booed"!
As we recognize our "Students of the Month" and "Top Tigers" we have sent a "Teacher of the Month" nomination form to our families. I also want yo encourage you to feel free to use the Google form below to nominate one of your fellow co-workers.
I believe we can support the bond by educating our students on the facts. I have attached a picture of employee speech rights during bond elections. Please educate yourself. Also, click the link below to educate yourself on more details. And please share this information will all of your voting neighbors and friends!
The links to purchase your "jeans passes" are below. Always remember that you don't have to have a "jeans pass" to wear a college shirt or a motivational shirt. The money collected helps us purchase things for our staff. Today's luncheon was paid through your "jean's pass" donations. Thank you!
As you enter your weekend find time for yourself! Kelly Locke's "Something to Ponder" has a lot of great information for us to all stay mentally healthy and fit! I forwarded it to the staff and included a video she has in it below.
Have a safe and enjoyable HC weekend!

- The SPED team wants to thank ALL of you for the support you are providing for our students! We're off to a great start this year! Thank you!
ESL:Please remember that if you need bilingual dictionaries, extra help with an ESL kiddo, or help with teaching strategies, I am in room 420 or send an email to eblack@conroeisd.net.
If you are a tested subject, start using the accommodations you want the student to use on STAAR. Remember that we must show evidence that the student uses the accommodations on tests or work in the classroom. Start pulling your evidence!!!
Conroe ISD ESL Director, Dayren Carlisle and ESL Coach, Mari Pineda will be here October 23rd to present a "Tiger Short". They will focus on grading appropriately and tiered assignments for the appropriate language proficiency.
RtI: The 2019-2020 Student Support RtI Team would like to introduce themselves. We will offer little bites of information on Tier I-III Response to Intervention and our roles on this campus through the newly named, Student Support RtI Team; Sandra Matson- Coordinator/Reading ELL, Julia Venghaus-Administrator, Linda McAdams-Counselor, Angela Morrow- Reading Comprehension, Lee Marshall-English, Nicole Mershimer-Math/Math ELL, Emily Black- ELL, Sheri Nuon-Special Education, Chelsie Newman-Biology/ELL, and Jonni Hayhurst-Diagnostician.
504/ Testing:
Thanks so much for submitting forms this week - keep it up!
504 Teacher Data Form in google - this needs to be completed for the named student when you receive the form in your e-mail. This indicates the student's annual 504 meeting is scheduled soon. This provides me the feedback to know if their accommodations are working/appropriate. Without your feedback I cannot remove unneeded accommodations or add additional accommodations. Also, please be aware what you submit is shared with the parent at the meeting. If you have questions or need help, please let me know. My goal is for this process to be efficient and effective, but not take too much of your time.
This is what the form looks like in your e-mail.
