Notes for the Week
This Week is a Primary Week
- This year our Yearbooks will be created through a partnership with Lifetouch. The bad news about this change is that we will be learning a new system for creating our yearbook pages. I have been promised that this work is easier than what we have been doing in the past. You will be responsible for some photos to add to your class’s yearbook page. Please start collecting 10-15 photos for the yearbook. If you have sponsored a club this year, Lifetouch will be scheduling a time to come by and take group photos of your club.
- As a PLC start working on your timeline to complete these items prior to April 30th : Please refer to past Memos for the list
- Thank you for your hard work on World Read Aloud Day
- Due to the Make-up day this Friday, your professional day scheduled for May 4th is now scheduled for Tuesday, May 17th.
- On Thursday, March 3rd, we will have time for each team to observe Literacy instruction. We will have floating subs in the building who will cover your classes for around an hour. The purpose for this time is so each of you can have a greater understanding of the literacy instruction taking place at Audubon.
Open Mouth, Insert Foot
This past Tuesday, Beth and Kelly began sharing some of the impacts poverty can have on the students we serve. I try to empathize with the struggles our families deal with, but the reality is I cannot relate. I think we are all guilty of not seeking to understand the families we serve, the people we work with or even our loved ones. For many reasons, we are quick to judge actions (or lack of actions) based on our biased view points.
The reality is almost every person we encounter is trying to do the best they know how and their actions have very good intentions. Sadly, we miss those intentions by not practicing Habit 5. I hope each of you can reflect on areas where you are not seeking first to understand and find ways to get better at this Habit.
