Guildford West Public School
NEWSLETTER - 2021, Term 3, Week 10
Principal's News
Dear Parents and Carers,
I can’t believe it has been a whole term that we have been engaging in remote learning, however, I am so proud of our students and their continued dedication to learning during this time. Next term, we will begin implementing online class merit awards for two students per class each week who are displaying our school values while learning from home.
We have also been busy working hard to come up with some creative and fun ways to engage the students and whole family in various hands-on challenges and tasks next term. I am looking forward to seeing what our students, families and teachers come up with!
Next term we will be providing weekly zooms for all students to work with their teachers in small groups. Attendance at these sessions is expected and will make up student learning for the day. This is an opportunity for students to work directly with their teacher to learn new concepts and skills, see their peers and receive support and feedback on their learning.
I understand that this has been a difficult time for all of our families and community of Guildford West and I thank you for your ongoing support of your children and commitment to home learning. We are looking forward to the day when we can all return safely to school and see one another, but until then we will continue to connect with our students and families over the phone, zoom, and online learning platforms.
I know that the school holidays will look a bit different this time, but please take the time to relax with your family safely in your home, connect with loved ones digitally via phone or video calls, read a good book and enjoy some time in nature.

Life Skills Movement and Wellbeing Sessions
This term, students have been participating in weekly sessions with Miss Julie, our instructor from Life Skills. Students have engaged in a range of learning experiences focused on resilience, perseverance and mindfulness. They have participated in yoga and movement exercises and even learnt to juggle! This has been a wonderful way for students to connect with their friends and teachers each week, get active and move their bodies and focus on their wellbeing by identifying strategies they can use to calm their bodies and minds.
Dance Fever Disco
Last week, we held our first virtual disco over Zoom with Dance Fever. The students learnt a range of dances and had so much fun dressing up and showing off their moves. We had a fantastic response to this program and will be working with Dance Fever next term to offer an online fitness program for the students each week.
School Administrative and Support Staff (SASS) Recognition Week
Last week (6th-10th September) it was SASS Recognition Week. This week acknowledges the hard work and contribution of our SASS (School Administrative and Support Staff) across the school.
