TLLP ~ Visual Literacy
Teacher Learning & Leadership Program
What Is The Teacher Learning & Leadership Program?
The Teacher Learning and Leadership Program (TLLP) in Ontario, Canada was launched in 2007 and is a joint initiative through partnership between the Ontario Teacher's Federation (OTF) and the Ontario Ministry of Education. The goal of the program is to support experienced teachers to undertake self-directed advanced professional development. The program develops teachers' leadership skills for sharing their professional learning and exemplary practices. Each year, experienced classroom teachers can apply individually or in a team to conduct a TLLP project.
At the Peel District School Board a committee of Instructional Coordinators selected two proposals to forward to the Ontario Ministry of Education. Our proposal of entitled: Exploring The Possibilities of Visual Literacy Across The Curriculum was accepted by the Ministry of Education and a team of ten experienced classroom teachers embarked on an interesting learning journey.

KINDREE PUBLIC SCHOOL
Kindree Public School is one of Peel's most outstanding places to work and learn on a daily basis. The school population is comprised of 498 diverse learners from every corner of the world. Staff members pride themselves as being part of the "Kindree Family" where we take care of each other. Visual Literacy team members included: Avryl McKoy, Cheryl Manley, Sandee Thomas, Tracey Slaunwhite, Kim Henderson, Amanda Gibberson, Melanie Malcomson, Shelley McKenney and Bryan Woods. Kindree's principal Chandra Sutaria and vice-principal Leah Romaniello were both very supportive during the TLLP project. Special thanks goes to Jane Wilson who worked tirelessly to ensure the budget remained balanced!
