Judges for a Cure - Closing Wrap Up for 2021
The Handley Volleyball Team participated in their 9th Annual Judges for a Cure Game on Oct. 12 2021. This year through the help of the local community, local businesses, parent volunteers, WPS faculty and staff the fundraiser was a huge success. The Handley Volleyball Team was able to successfully raise a total of $7,250.00 this season.
The Handley Volleyball players participated in lots of fundraiser efforts that led up to their October success. The players sold breast cancer awareness t-shirts, hosted a Jazzercise workout event, Ledo’s & Claudio's Spirit Night and hosted a t-shirt/jean day to WPS faculty and staff. The players really enjoyed taking the time off the court to help their Judges for a Cure Campaign and feel it brought them closer together for a great cause.
The players, coaches, and volleyball parents are so pleased to be able to help such a great cause that impacts the lives of many in our community. It is a great honor to participate in the Judges for a Cure rally on behalf of Valley Health Cancer Center and Blue Ridge Hospice. It truly shows a new definition of the term rally in volleyball- as our Handley Volleyball players and fans showed pride to rally and raise so much money for breast cancer research and patients' families. Again, the Handley Volleyball Program would like to thank all those who supported and contributed to our Judges for Cure event.

What is NSLI-Y?
The U.S. Department of State’s National Security Language Initiative for Youth (NSLI-Y) program was launched in 2006 to promote critical language learning among American youth. The U.S. Department of State, in cooperation with American Councils for International Education, awards and administers merit-based scholarships to high school students for participation in summer and academic year immersion programs in locations where the eight NSLI-Y languages are spoken. NSLI-Y immerses participants in the cultural life of the host community, giving them formal and informal language practice and sparking a lifetime interest in foreign languages and cultures. Participants receive intensive language instruction, live with a host family for all or part of the program, and participate in a variety of cultural activities. Loaner Chromebooks
Loaner Chromebooks have moved to the library. Please see the following procedures for borrowing a Chromebook.
If you forget your Chromebook, you will need to pick up a loaner in the library BEFORE school starts or as soon as you arrive from the EGSIC in the afternoon.
You should NOT return the loaner at the end of each block, but instead keep it until 3:00 or until leaving for the EGSIC in the afternoon.
We do not have loaner CHARGERS. Please ask your teacher if they have a charger you may borrow while in their classroom. If not, you will need to come to the library to borrow a Chromebook.
Losing your loaner privileges:
You may not check out a loaner more than 9 times per quarter. You will need to get in the habit of bringing the chromebook that was issued to you.
If you fail to return the loaner to the library at the end of the day 3 times in one quarter, including leaving the device unattended or in a teacher’s classroom, you will not be allowed to borrow a Chromebook for the remainder of the quarter.
If you lose a loaner Chromebook or damage it in any way, you will be held financially responsible for replacement of the device, and you will not be allowed to borrow another Chromebook until this has been taken care of.
Handley Parking Permits
Students are permitted to park on school premises as a matter of privilege, not of right. If you are going to be driving to school for the 2021-2022 school year and parking in the Handley parking lot, you must obtain a parking permit. Below you will find instructions on how to register your car and obtain a parking permit.
Vehicle’s year, make, model, & color
License plate number, Driver’s license number, & owner of the car
Paying for and receiving your parking permit
See the school treasurer (main office) to pay the $25 parking fee.
Take the receipt to the main office administrative assistants, and they will assign you a parking space and give you a parking permit.
Last: Hang the parking permit from your rear view mirror
The parking permit must be visible.
The permit will have a number on it. That number is your assigned spot for the year.
You may only park in your assigned spot during school hours. If you fail to park in your spot or break any parking lot rules, you may lose your privilege to park in the lot and on school property.
