Wednesday - All students will line the halls starting at the 6th grade classrooms and extending to the doors near Inez's room beginning at 2:50. 6th graders will walk through a sea of clapping as we honor them on their last day of school. From there, ALL students will exit the door near by Inez's office. Bus riders will leave through that same door and walk around the school to get on their bus. Walkers will leave through that same door and walk as they do. Car riders will leave through that same door and walk to the gym. This will allow our entire staff to take part in the clap as we send our students off for the summer break!

Student Summer Packets

Teachers in grades K-5 are developing a student summer packet for each child. The work will be graded by the incoming teacher. The work will count as part of the first reading and math grade for quarter one of the 2015-2016 school year. Packets will go home on the last day.

Tasks to Complete by the End of the Year

  • Submit student groupings for 2015-2016. The only one that I have is Grade 4, going into grade 5 and grade 2 going into grade 3.
  • Send Mr. Broncato your training preference for the Danielson Teacher Evaluation used in D68. Respond to his e-mail expressing your preference.
  • Close out your classroom for the summer. Ana and Melissa, anything that was purchased with building money must remain at Sipley. Katie will purchase building items for you. Ana and Melissa, box your items and label them with your name, Willow Creek, and the room number you will have.
  • Complete grades by Monday at 8:00.
  • Sign up for Kagan Training -
  • Sign up for Learn Like a Pirate -

The budgetThe Illinois 5 Essentials Survey asks if you have a voice in how funds are used. My hope is that everyone can enter, "Strongly Agree" to that next year. You had opportunities to order items from the budget, you had the opportunity to request periodicals, the opportunity to request to attend a workshop, the opportunity to request supplemental materials, etc. If there is anything else that you need such that you can strongly agree that you have a voice in how funds are used, please let me know.

Data Review

Data Review gave pause to examine student growth, an opportunity to learn more about the instructional needs of students coming to you, and it afforded us the opportunity to see which students need additional supports in place at the start of next school year. In that respect we accomplished our goals of those meetings. As you go into the summer, think about one area of teaching that you are pleased with, which can be replicated in 2015-2016 and one area of teaching that you want to develop. Utilizing data to inform instructional planning may be an avenue for which to consider those two areas.

The Sipley Way

Those in our Leader in Me book club is meeting on Monday to write expectations of ourselves and others such that we can use that as a building block for building our dream school. We will meet from 3:00 - 4:00. Please bring a Chrome as we will be working from a Google Doc -
