The Cash Chronicle
Week of January 18th
Our Week At A Glance
*No spelling this week due to the short week. We will begin our study of words again next week.
Reading-character study: We are reading the book Because of Winn Dixie as we learn to follow characters along the story, noticing the changes that occur within them. This week, we are focusing on creating big ideas and theories about our characters as we follow them throughout the story.
Math-measurement of time: We are learning strategies to help us determine how much time has elapsed.
Science- conductors vs. insulators: We are learning about how heat is produced and moves/doesn't move through different materials. We are also learning to compare how different processes serve as sources of heat energy (including burning, friction, and electricity).

ipads- Please continue to make sure that students charge their iPads every night, and place them back in their backpacks for the following day. Thanks again for your help with this! If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to email me. mondah@apps.anderson1.org
Homework- Students still have a homework sheet in their green folder that says their homework for the night. Please be sure to check their behavior for that day. You do not need to sign this sheet.
Green Folders- Please send the green folder back to to school each day so we can put any important papers in them to send home.
Box Tops- Please send in any box tops you may have! Place them in a ziploc bag or envelope with your child's name, "Miss Monda", and 3rd grade written on it. This is an easy way to raise money for our school!
20 mins. daily reading-Reading logs are in your child's green folder. This will be an excellent way to keep up with your child's 20 minutes of daily reading homework. We have reviewed the expectations for this in class. Please make sure your child is keeping up with the books they are reading!
Muliplication Facts- Repeat Repeat Repeat. The best way for students to learn their multiplication facts is repetition. Quiz them with random facts in the car or before they go to bed. Students are now familiar with facts 0-12.
The "dot thing" is when they use their multiplication table found in the Notability app on their iPad. They say the fact aloud and cover the answer with a dot. Then, they go back and say the problem again with the answer and uncover the dot to see if they answered correctly.
The flashcard app and charades app is also an excellent resource.
