iPad Apps for Augmentation and Applying & ReadWorks.org - Reading Comprehension passages

iPad apps for Augmentation and Applying Levels of Learning and Sharing Learning

There are many iPad apps out there that you can use with your class to reach the Applying level of Bloom's Taxonomy and the Augmentation level of the SAMR model of technology integration.

At the "Application" level students are adapting, applying, calculating, changing, illustrating, listing, showing, teaching and solving. At the Augmentation level of tech integration, students are completing fairly traditional learning tasks, but the technology tools they are using help to make communicating their learning easier.

For a few more iPad app suggestions, be sure to check out the article on Edutopia by Diane Darrow "K-5 iPad Apps for Applying (Bloom's Revised Taxonomy, Part 3)".

Check out apps below that you could get started using today.

As Seen on Twitter: Read Works Your One Stop Shop for Reading Comprehension Practice

I had to check out ReadWorks.org after a number of people were gushing about it on Twitter.

If you're looking for supplemental texts at specific lexile levels that you can use to help students improve reading comprehension, be sure to check out Read Works (link below).

This site is free - just create an account - and it includes tons of informational texts with reading comprehension questions aligned to CCSS. Click on the Reading Passages tab and you can browse or search by keyword, lexile level, or grade level, then download PDFs of the text.

These might make for effortless morning work or for targeted practice with student groups created based on development.
