City Slickers

Converting City Kids into Agriculture Lovers!

Calling All Volunteers

Are you passionate about agriculture? Do you feel our kids should have a better understanding of where their food comes from? If you do, then WE WANT YOU!!!

City Slickers is a one day event that takes place every September. It introduces Grade 4 and 5 students to agriculture by immersing them into both on-farm learning opportunities and hands on activities. City Slickers is a truly unique and powerful program that gives school children a first hand opportunity to truly learn what agriculture and farming is all about.

We cannot do it without an incredible army of volunteers. If you would like to be one of the 150 one-day Agriculture Awareness Team members then please contact us below. You will not be disappointed with this amazing opportunity to promote a REAL image of our agriculture and agri-food industry and foster a deeper understanding and appreciate amongst tomorrow's consumers!

The fact is Albertan Farm Families supply us with food and Alberta Food Producers help promote and educate all consumers on the benefits of this industry. This is the purpose for the City Slickers Program. It brings together farmers, producers and consumers to highlight this partnership. The consumers in this case will be approximately 1,200 students from the Edmonton, St Albert, and Parkland School Divisions.

Presented by the Multicultural Heritage Centre in Stony Plain, Alberta.

Contact Jean Swartz for more information on how you can volunteer for this incredible experience.
