A Peek into one of our Elective Classes:
Mrs. Kelly Kruiswyk is not only a talented music teacher, but she also runs an elective class where creativity and tech combine! In Creative Technologies students get to put their ideas into all sorts of new formats. From using iPads to create stop motion stories to creating a virtual reality tour of a favorite place, the sky's the limit on where an idea can take you in this elective. Check out this stop motion video titled "Super Skater!"
STEAM Night
Get excited! D101/WSFEE STEAM Night is almost here! STEAM Night is an opportunity for hands-on exploration of various aspects of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math. D101 staff, parent and community members who are experts in their fields are excited to share their passions with D101 students. We hope that you can join us sometime on Thursday, February 9 between 5:30-8:00pm at McClure.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! If you are interested in helping out (no experience or expertise necessary--we'll supply that!) please click HERE to do so!
If you are a planner, and would like to plot out your STEAM Night experience, please see the attached brochure which contains details about the event.
Thank you to everyone who helps make this night possible--especially WSFEE for funding this wonderful event!

Illinois 5 Essentials Survey (repeat)
Beginning now, students in grades four through twelve, as well as all teachers across Illinois, will be taking the 5Essentials Survey. As required by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE), this survey is designed and administered by UChicago Impact at the University of Chicago to generate a detailed picture of the inner workings of each school across our state.
The survey gathers data related to five indicators that are correlated with important student outcomes. These five indicators are Effective Leaders, Collaborative Teachers, Involved Families, Supportive Environments, and Ambitious Instruction.
The Illinois State Board of Education is also inviting school districts to offer an optional Parental Survey to their parent community, and District 101 has elected to participate. This survey is designed to gather parental thoughts on the same important factors noted above and the impact they have had on school effectiveness at your child’s school.
The Parent Survey is currently available until March 31, and can be accessed by clicking HERE.
If at least 20 percent of parents at a school complete this survey, a parent supplemental report will be generated. Our response rate thus far is 7%. Parent identity and survey responses will be kept completely confidential and will never be connected to you or your child.
While this summary information is included on our School Report Card for general reporting purposes, your perceptions of McClure are of great value to me in ensuring we are continuing to grow as a school. I would greatly appreciate it if you all take a few minutes to complete this brief survey.
