Mr. Haja's Class
Reading: Students should be reading a minimum or 15-20 minutes from a book on their independent reading level every day in order to improve their fluency as well as comprehension. Students will greatly benefit from you asking them comprehension questions regarding the characters, setting, key events, theme, main idea, and plot/solution of their stories.
I will be sending more information home in the future for anyone interested in volunteering either during Math (9:45-10:20) or during Reading/Daily 5 ( 1:45-2:30)

I am looking for anyone who is interested in volunteering for periods of time during the day either in the mornings for Math (9:35-10:25), or afternoons for Reading (1:45-2:30). If you are interested in volunteering please contact me through either Class Dojo or email. In addition, please let me know a time(s) you would be available as well as what days/how often so that we can set something up.
In math we will be working on multiplication over the next couple. Please have your child continue to study their addition and subtraction facts as well.
Frontrowed.com is a great resource for students to practice their math facts. The link to the website is located on my webpage
We have been practicing Main Idea and Details, Compare and Contrast as well as Literary Elements (characters, setting, plot) and will continue to do so over the next week
Spelling (link on my webpage)
Students will be tested on a Day 5. New spelling words will be introduced and sent home the following day (Day 1). Each day after (days 1, 2, 3), 1 spelling assignment from the spelling activities list will be due. The night of day 4 it will be up to you and your child on how to prepare for the next days spelling test.
In writing we have finished Personal Narratives and will begin Informative writing over the next couple weeks
Science and Social Studies
In Science and Social Studies we are currently working on Geography as well as Simple Machines.
I am trying to post pictures from the happenings of our classroom at least once a week. Please continue to look for them.
