BURRO BROADCAST for REMOTE LEARNERS
News & Information from the Principal 10/14/20
Student Support
One way we'd like to support our remote learners is to be able to connect with other remote learners. Sometimes when we have someone else to troubleshoot with, or to bounce ideas off of, or to even study with, it can help!
If you are interested in connecting with another remote learner in your grade, please send me a quick email at gretchen.panicucci@parkcountyre2.org. Ideally, I'd like to be able to set up "MEET" times for specific grade levels to be able to connect and receive support from each other. Or, simply connect a couple of students together via email.
CONCEPT COACH
It has come to our attention that the Concept Coach is not as reliable as we hoped. We have reached out to Edgenuity to alert them of the long wait times and they are working to address the issue. Below is the communication I received from Edgenuity:
"I apologize for the inconvenience regarding Coaching/Tutoring - this should be a real-time functionality. This has been a very popular add-on and we have many more districts and schools using Edgenuity than ever before due to COVID. As a response to the volume of customers, we have been on a hiring spree to help address the demand. I will pass along this feedback to my coaching group so they are made aware of what your site has been experiencing. I would highly recommend having students use the functionality outside of peak times - Maybe using this early morning or late night to ensure volume is not heavy when they reach out for assistance."
Time Expectations
There is a report we are able to run called the student SESSION LOG. This report shows us every time a student is in Edgenuity, which classes he/he is working on, how long each work session is, and any idle time the student acquires. It is super important to know that your child should be devoting as much time if not more time to Remote Learning as he/she would be in the classroom. A minimum of 16 hours per week for CORE classes is required in order to keep at pace and equate to what is happening at the school. If at any time you are curious about your child's SESSION LOG, please let us know and we can send it your way.
Options for Returning to School
If you are interested in your child(ren) returning to in-person learning please take a moment to complete this brief survey to help us plan and prepare for the change.
