October 2, 2020
Hello Stetson Families,
Happy Friday! I hope you all got a chance to visit our virtual open house last evening. If you missed it, no worries. You can go to our school website at any time to view our teachers' recorded videos. If your child is enrolled in our cyber program, please view the videos on the district WC Cyber Program page.
At this point, most of you are aware that our school board did approve a hybrid plan to start on November 5th for all secondary students. There are several different learning options available, students can remain in our cyber program, return to in-person hybrid, or remain in all remote. Please be on the look out for a parent survey from Dr. Scanlon about those options. In addition, a parent Q & A information session takes place this evening at 6:00 pm. Please refer to Dr. Scanlon's emails as more information will be continuing to come your way. The district website has all the information that is sent home by email regarding the hybrid plan.
Our school has implemented a new safety committee to review protocols for reopening in hybrid. We will share information with both parents and students as we get closer to our reopening date. Our goal is for all students to feel safe and comfortable in this new school environment.
In the meantime, I also want to stress to everyone that the students MUST attend their regularly scheduled four block classes each day or the student will be marked absent. Currently our school day runs from 8:45 am - 3:30 pm with breaks in the day. Please check our school website for information on which day (days 1- 6; am/pm day) schedule to follow. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to us in the main office or your grade level counselor and we will help guide you through the schedule. Our cyber students have an attendance quiz to fill out each school day by 10:45 am on Schoology.
Thank you for your patience and flexibility during this unique school year. I hope you all have a fantastic weekend.
Enjoy the fall weather,

Message about Attendance--Cyber & Remote Learners
When a student misses class due to a doctor appointment, please email the teacher whose class they will miss and Mrs. Sadik (firstname.lastname@example.org) in the Attendance Office. Please ask the doctor for a note and email/scan a copy of the note to Mrs. Sadik so the missed time can be entered as excused.
Reminder that students are to attend all FOUR classes each day. If they miss 2 out of the 4 classes, they are officially marked absent for the day.
If you child is going to be absent for the entire day, we need a picture of a written note with your signature in order for the absence to be excused. Any email without a signature will no longer be acceptable for an excused absence.

Many of you have probably heard of the amazing Girls on the Run program from your elementary school days. Did you know there is a similar program for middle school girls called Heart & Sole? These programs are even more important and beneficial to participants during these times of social distancing. Stetson Middle School is trying to form a virtual Heart & Sole team and any girl in grades 6-8 is invited to participate - they can even attend a DIFFERENT middle school since this is all virtual. Please see the informational flyer on our school website to find out more or visit gotrpa.org. We are listed as the Chester County Community Heart & Soul team - Mon/Wed 4-5pm.
All students are required to attend this class. Attendance will be taken each class period. I hope you have gotten a chance to look at the planning sheet (has current grades on it). It was sent to you by your child and is updated weekly. If you have not, please have a discussion with your child at home and reach out to grade level administrator if you have any additional questions.
