Facility Funding Discussion

Thank you for your in-depth discussion of facilities funding during the work session last evening. The Patron Insight survey results will be shared at our meeting on October 27th. To ensure everyone has the background information needed for future decision-making, individual and/or small group meetings will be scheduled during the week of October 31 – November 4 to meet with Dr. Kelly and Dr. Cowherd. Opal will be contacting you to setup these meetings.

Outstanding Boards of Education (OBOE)

The MSBA Outstanding Board of Education Awards provide an opportunity to encourage effective board practices and recognize outstanding board performance. The focus areas include (click on link to see description):

  1. Teaching, Learning and Assessment
  2. Human and Organizational Capital
  3. Climate, Culture and Organizational Efficacy
  4. School Finance Resources
  5. Physical and Environmental Resources
  6. Governance, Leadership and Accountability


In order to apply, the Board must meet the following criteria:

  • MSBA member district
  • All 7 CBM Essentially certified by MSBA or grandfathered by March 1st of the award year
  • Earn at least 85% on the district Annual Performance Report (APR) for the current and prior school years


Timeline:

  • November 2016: Identify OBOE Focus Area
  • December 2016-January 2017: Complete OBOE Application
  • March 2017: Submit OBOE application
  • June 2017: 2017 Award Recipients are recognized at Leadership Summit
