Dozier Family Update
September 16
Dozier Mission
Message from the Principals
Greetings Dozier Families!
We hope all of our Ducks have had a wonderful week!
Did you know EMS ISD has a free online tutoring program for students?
Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD has partnered with Tutor.com in an effort to provide more support to students and families. This service is meant to provide after-hours, supplemental support for students and should not replace teacher instruction. Students needing academic support should always reach out to their teachers first, then are encouraged to use Tutor.com services as additional assistance when needed. Tutor.com is available to all grade levels, subject areas, and academic levels, and tutors are available for English and Spanish instruction. The service will be available seven days a week from 8 am - 11 pm. Tutoring hours will be capped at 90 minutes per student per week, with hours resetting every Friday. If a student needs more support, he/she should contact their teacher and discuss additional options.
What to do if your student needs to miss school:
Please email your child's teacher to let them know why he/she is absent and request school work for the days absent. Your child's teacher will forward the email to our registrar so the absence can be noted. If your child tests positive for COVID-19, please call or email our nurse, Brandye Adams at badams@ems-isd.net or 817-847-6340 for instructions about quarantine and return to school protocol.
With Duck Pride -
Mrs. Bradley, Principal
Ms. Ray, Assistant Principal

CTHS Football - Elementary School Night - Friday, October 8th
All elementary students, wearing a Dozier shirt will get into the game for free! Parents and guardians will be required to pay to enter the football game.
Reading Blackout is Back!
Students will receive their first card (red) on Wednesday, September 1, 2021. Students will then read books that fit in the categories printed in each square. Once a book is read entirely, the student will write the title of the book in the square. When every square has been filled, an adult will need to sign and date the card. The card should then be returned to Mrs. Beaver in the library. Students have, on average, about 4 weeks to complete each card.
There are 6 cards total, and each card earns a prize and brag tag. If your student completes all 6 cards, with each card being turned in on time, he/she will earn an invitation to the Purple People Party in May. So far our ducks have been rollerskating, swimming at the YMCA, and to watch a movie. Who knows what this year will bring!!
Everything you need to know about Reading Blackout is on the back of each Reading Blackout card. If, after you've read the Reading Blackout Information, you still have questions, please feel free to contact me. The best way to do this is through email, as I am with students most of the day. My email is hbeaver@ems-isd.net.

Volunteers - Background Checks
Volunteers are given an assignment or task dealing directly with children other than their own while on campus or school-sponsored trips. Volunteers must complete the Volunteer Application and have an annual criminal history check completed by the District on file.
Our students benefit from the many volunteer hours that our parents and community members invest in our schools. For the safety of our students, we require all volunteers to complete a volunteer application and we run a name-based, state-wide criminal history check on all applicants. The background check must be completed and approved before volunteering. Parent/guardian volunteers will be also be processed through the district’s Raptor visitor system, which scans your driver's license each time you come to campus. All volunteers are required to reapply each year.

All Dozier Elementary staff members were trained in both protocols during our in-service week. Students will be trained in the Standard Response Protocol throughout the school year.
