4/21 & 4/22
Mrs. Auslander and JES will be sponsoring a book swap on Earth Day, April 22. Children in grades K-5 will have an opportunity to bring in gently used books and swap them for "new to you" books of their choice.
The book swap must be an even exchange. This means that students must select the same types of books they donate. For example if a 5th grader turns in 3 picture books, they must leave with 3 picture books. This ensures that everyone is exchanging in a fair manner.
You are welcome to donate extra books beyond the five your child can exchange. At the end of the swap, some of the extra books will be available to the Jefferson teachers to help build their classroom libraries. Remaining books will be donated to a local charity.
Click on the link above for more information about the book swap.

Let Me Run - Coaching Opportunity
Exciting Volunteer Opportunity:
Head Coach & Assistant Coach, Let Me Run, Fall 2016
The coaches for Let Me Run are "graduating" with their boys, so we are looking for two volunteers to take over Let Me Run this coming fall. Let Me Run is a running program for rising 4th & 5th grade boys (similar to Girls on the Run). The 7-week program inspires boys through the power of running to be courageous enough to be themselves, to build healthy relationships, and to live an active lifestyle. You do not have to be a runner or have prior coaching experience, just a love for teaching boys how to strive to be their best. It's an amazing experience!

Juvenile Protection – April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month
A message from the Pennsylvania PTA:
April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month, so we’re going to begin the month by asking you to take a few seconds to do one simple thing …
Put this number into your phone contacts: 1-800-932-0313.
It’s a toll-free number for ChildLine, Pennsylvania’s child abuse hotline. The line is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and reports can be made anonymously.
Once the ChildLine number is in your phone directory, pass the number along to friends, family and colleagues who might not have it in their phones. Remind them that anyone can (and should) report suspected child abuse or neglect.
If you are among Pennsylvania’s mandated reporters of child abuse or neglect, remember that you can either call ChildLine or make a report online.
It’s our collective responsibility to help keep all children safe from harm.
