Home of the Wolverines - September 3rd

Message from the Principal - Mrs. Nielsen

Dear Little Cedars Families,

For those of you that were able to make it to Meet the Teacher, we hope your child/children had a wonderful time. The teachers were so happy to be able to meet with their students! I am so thankful for the many connections I have already had a chance to make!

I know that we are excited to be able to open our doors to the entire Little Cedars community on Wednesday. If you have not done so, please take time to read our School Safety Plan.

I hope you enjoy your three-day weekend! Happy Labor Day!

Safety Plan Handbook for Parents

Mask/face coverings

It is clear in the updated guidance and from directives from Governor Inslee that masks/face coverings are required inside of all K-12 schools and on all buses, regardless of vaccination status. This is a state requirement. Masks/face coverings are not required when outdoors. Mask/face covering exceptions may be made for students with certain medical conditions or receiving special education services in some cases and will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

Bus Transportation

Please use our eLink/Versatrans online tool to find your student’s eligibility for bus service, bus stops and route information. (Note: Transportation information in Skyward/Family Access is not accurate. Please use the eLink/Verstrans online tool.) 2021-2022 routes and schedules will be available in eLink/Verstrans after Monday, August 30. After that time, please call the Transportation Office at 360-563-3525 if you don’t see route/schedule information available for your student.

The eLink/Verstrans online tool contains the most up-to-date and detailed schedule and stop information. After Monday, August 30, click here to find your eligibility for bus service and your student's bus route/schedule.

  • Login: (student 7 digit ID# with 0 ) Example 0911111
  • Password: (8-digit birthdate-no spaces) Example 02222021

Please note that there will be no bus passes issued at all for this school year.

After school parent pick-up form

If you plan to pick up your child from school every day we ask that you fill out an After School Pick up form and return it to the office.

Also, please make sure that you have the sheet of paper with your child's name and grade in the dashboard so that we can quickly bring your child to you.

Attendance Reminders

Please call the school office 360-563-2920 daily to inform staff of your child’s absence. Regular attendance is essential to a student’s success in school. For our students’ safety and for their parents’ peace of mind, a Call Alert Program has been set up to notify parents if their child does not arrive at school. The program operates as follows:

If a student is going to be absent or tardy from school, the parent should call the school’s absentee message line (360-563-2920) before 8:10 a.m. in the morning. Messages may be left on this message line at any time night or day. If we have not heard from you, we will attempt to call you to verify your student’s safety. This takes a great deal of staff time because of our large enrollment, so please try to notify the office before school starts in the morning. Also, for safety reasons, no student may leave the school campus during the school day without being signed out in person by his/her guardian or a designated adult.

According to Snohomish School District policy, absences due to illness or a health condition; a religious observance when requested by the student’s parents; a school approved activity; a family emergency; a school disciplinary action or short-term suspension as required by state law, are excused. When a student returns to school after an absence, according to state law, they must bring a note from their parent(s) verifying the reason for the absence.

If an absence is excused, the student can make up all missed assignments outside of class under reasonable conditions and time limits established by his/her teacher(s), except that in participation-type classes, a student’s grade may be affected because of the student’s inability to make up activities conducted during a class period.

Classes start promptly at 8:10 a.m. Students arriving between 8:10 -10:10a.m. will be marked tardy. Students arriving after 10:10 a.m. will be marked as half-day absent. Any student arriving after 8:10 a.m.am should sign in at the office before proceeding to class.

ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS: Washington State Law requires all parents to have their children enrolled and attending school full time in the district in which they reside. Washington State Law requires us to schedule a conference with the parents of any child with two unexcused absences in a month. After the fifth unexcused absence, we are required to meet with you and establish an agreement for attendance. At the seventh unexcused absence in a month or the tenth unexcused absence in the school year, we are required to file a petition for a hearing in juvenile court.

Medicine at School

:Medication is defined as all drugs, whether prescription or over-the-counter. The school is authorized to administer oral medication by RCW 28A.210.260 and 28A.210.270 to students during school hours or while students are in the custody of the school only when necessary to permit the student to attend school. The staff does NOT administer medication by injection at school. Neither can they administer over the counter medication without the approved paperwork from your child’s healthcare provider (doctor).

Oral medication will be administered only when the school office is in receipt of a current, written request from a Licensed Health Care Provider and parent/legal guardian. Medication request forms are available in the school office and must be completely filled out. Medication must arrive at school in the original pharmacy container and delivered by an adult.
