MARK YOUR CALENDARS-MAY 18th and 19th, 2024 for the Rhythm and Rhyme Recitals!

HIP HIP HOORAY!

Training and teaching our itty bitty dancers is one of our greatest joys, and we look forward to seeing each of them walk through our studio doors each week.

Our Rhythm and Rhyme teachers are trained in teaching and loving on our youngest of dancers. The Rhythm and Rhyme program will be a 45 minute class each week that will consist of 1/2 ballet and 1/2 tap instruction.

Through the use of props, and engaging music, your dancer will come to life in the studio. Our wish is that each dancer that walks through our doors will fall in love with dance, look forward to coming each week, and will build confidence in the classroom.

NEW FRIDAY CLASS OPTION!

Join us on Friday mornings in Plano for Rhythm and Rhyme I or II! Ms. Katey would love to see you!

What should my dancer wear to class each week?

Rhythm and Rhyme dancers will wear pink tights, any color of leotard, and a bun or their hair pulled away from their face. Please have dancers bring their black tap shoes, and pink ballet shoes in their dance bag, and wear their street shoes to class each week.

Dancers will begin with tap, so once you arrive inside your studio, please help your dancer put their tap shoes on. They will then enter the studio when the class starts with their ballet shoes inside their bag.

Will my dancer have a recital at the end of the year?

YES! The Rhythm and Rhyme recital is one of our favorite events to host at KJ each May. Mark your calendars for the weekend of May 18th-19th! Exact showtimes coming in the Spring! This intimate recital with our Rhythm and Rhyme dancers is a 45 minute recital that allows your dancer to perform and dance in front of their family and friends.

What if my dancer has trouble walking into class the first few weeks of class?

KJ faculty understands that sometimes our youngest dancers need to acclimate to their environment, and feel a sense of safety and security before they are willing to come alive in their classes. Each rhythm and rhyme teacher has worked with all ages of dancers, and is willing to work with your dancer each week. We look forward to making each and every dancer feel comfortable and welcome. Often times it does take a few weeks for dancers to feel comfortable, so if your dancer is hesitant the first few, please give us at least a month. This is our 31st year, so we have seen it all, and it is such a joy to us after a month to watch the nervous dancers come to life.

Thank you for trusting us with your most precious little ones. We are honored your at KJ!

Are parents allowed inside the dance room/studio?

Unfortunately, parents are not allowed actually inside the dance room/studio with their child. All of our studios at KJ having viewing windows for parents to see their dancer at all times. We do kindly ask that all parents remain in the hallway before and after classes to provide a safe, and consistent environment for all our dancers.

Is it too late to ask a friend to join?

No, it's always more fun to dance with your friends. Enrollment is open for several months, and we would love to have your dancers invite their buddies to join! Enrollment is online at kjdance.com, or they can email the office for assistance.

What if my dancer misses a class?

We would love to see your dancer make up a missed class in another Rhythm and Rhyme class. If your dancer is sick or out of town, please go online, and schedule a makeup class that works best for your family. Just visit kjdance.com, log in to your studio director account, and select a make up class that works for you!
