School Garden Plans

We are thrilled to announce that our plans to build a School Garden have been approved! Thanks to your generous Apex Fun Run donations, we are able to bring this project to life for our students. Below are some digital renderings of the plans. You can see that we are planning to install a series of keyhole gardens alongside an outdoor classroom. This area is dedicated to bringing hands-on learning experiences to our students. It will also serve as a place where parents, staff and community members can gather together and contribute to our learning experiences here at WCH. The outdoor learning center and garden will be located at the rear of our building behind the 4th and 5th grade classrooms, running alongside Sabino and is designed for all grade levels to enjoy!

This project supports our vision of bringing authentic learning experiences to our students, promotes a sense of community and encourages innovative teaching practices. Through each phase of the project, I will be providing you all updates on how you can help support our efforts and get involved. We deeply appreciate all that you and our students have done to make this project a reality. Stay tuned for more updates Tigers!

Talking to Children About Violence: Tips for Parents and Teachers

Mrs. JoAnn Bryan, the WCHE School Counselor, shares with us this resource that she provided to all of the West Cypress teachers and staff regarding serious acts of violence in schools. The tragedy in Florida has reached the ears, eyes, and hearts of some of our students, and we need to collectively equip ourselves to respond in supportive ways.

We share information with our students on how we maintain a safe and supportive learning environment for everyone here at WCH. We also want to provide them with opportunities to share and express their feelings appropriately when tragedy or violence occurs. We encourage parents to read through this resource and reach out with questions or concerns. Your child's social, emotional and physical safety is our priority!

Remember to save your Box Tops for West Cypress!

Please remember to save your Box Tops for Education and donate them to West Cypress Hills. The classroom with the most Box Tops each quarter wins a special prize.

And, be sure to remind Grandma, Grandpa, Aunts, and Uncles to save theirs, too!

Box Tops for Education labels can be found on a number of grocery items. For more information about the products that support Box Tops for Education, click here. Box Tops can be placed on this form and turned in to your child's teacher. Thanks!
