Happy Holidays!

Winter Program

Thank you to everyone for your efforts to help make the Winter Sing a great success on Friday. The gym was festive and filled with parents from 12:15 until 2:45. The students did an awesome job of dancing, singing and playing their instruments. Sue and Ryan had the students well prepared.

We have talked this year about "changing the world", on Friday it was evident by the joy on the faces of our performers and the pride of their parents and teachers that we brought some holiday spirit to our Grant School Family.

Friends and Family Night and Kids Shop

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the GSF Friends and Family night. We had around 45 families who benefitted from the generosity of our Grant School family.

We also should recognize the efforts of Lisa and our retired teachers who brought the Christmas spirit to our kids the past few weeks. It requires a great deal of flexibility in your classrooms and the hallways, but it well worth it when you see the excitement the kids have when they are bringing home their gifts!

Attendance Update

Lisa and I met on Tuesday to update the Attendance Action Plan. We recognized that we have students who are struggling to be on time or present consistently at school. As we looked deeper however, we realized that we have only about 14 families that make up this group of students. Of those 14 families, many are actually demonstrating improved attendance based on other siblings in the district or last year's attendance. A small celebration from the big picture of our school attendance. (Thanks El Nino!)

We appreciate your efforts to help monitor and reinforce attendance expectations. We will continue to work with all of our families to improve their attendance, especially as we approach more winter weather.

Grant/Jackson EdCamp

January 13th 2016

The idea an EdCamp as a professional development opportunity is a growing trend in education. I attended a full day EdCamp in October in West Bend and found it quite powerful. The Grant and Jackson ILT groups have decided to run a small scale version of an EdCamp on our January PD date. Both staffs will have a say in the sessions we would like run ahead of time. The sessions will be driven not from a keynote speaker with a prepared message, but from you, the participant. You will hear more about it at our staff meeting January 6th.
