Superintendent of Schools

An update from Dr. Brian Harris: May 8, 2020

Dear Barrington 220 Community:

As we approach the end of the 2019-20 school year, I wanted to share a calendar update with you.

The last day of new learning through virtual instruction for students will now be Friday, May 22.

May 26-May 28 will serve as our remaining three virtual professional development days for staff. Under the Illinois State Board of Education guidelines for Remote Learning Days, school districts were given up to five school days to work on remote learning plans. These days will allow for end of the year logistics to be finalized for teachers and throughout school buildings, and for professional learning to take place to ensure that student learning, social-emotional, and health needs are met as we enter the 2020-21 school year. It will also be used as a time for teachers to follow up with students who need to finalize incomplete assignments.

It is important to note that even though the last day of instruction for students is on Friday, May 22, various end of the year celebrations such as BHS graduation and middle school recognition ceremonies, are still happening after this date.

  • BMS-Prairie Virtual Recognition: Tuesday, May 26 at 7pm
  • BMS-Station Virtual Recognition: Tuesday, May 26 at 7pm
  • BHS Virtual Graduation: Friday, May 29 at 7pm (prelude begins at 6pm)

Thank you for your continued support as we move toward the end of the 2019-20 school year.
