Plank South Families,
Things are kicking back up and there are lots of opportunities around Webster and Plank South! Below are some highlights, but be sure to read through the newsletter for everything happening around school!
- We have Reading Week next week (January 22nd-25th). See below for all the great opportunities to read and dress up for school!
- The highlight of Reading Week is Literacy Night (Thursday, January 24th). See the flyer below for details.
- Chess Club sign-ups are now available! If you sign up be sure to see if you can volunteer to help.
- You likely already know a little about WonderCare, the before and after school daycare that will start in September. See below for information on upcoming Parent Information Nights.
- You received a hard copy, but if you missed it see below for the information for our upcoming Night at the Knighthawks. Turn in your form by Tuesday, January 22nd.
- The Knights of Columbus Free Throw Shooting Competition is coming up (flyer below)
- 4th & 5th-grade families: 1st semester activity period ends Friday 1/25 and 2nd semester starts on 1/28.

Chess Club Sign-up Information!
Chess club is starting the week of Jan. 29. Again, we will have instructor coming from Rochester Chess Center. Space is limited, registration is online. please register ASAP!

- Ice Cream Social: Co-Coordinator needed (email our coordinator Karla (karlab25@aol.com), or the PTSA co-chairs for more details)
- Science Fair: Co-Coordinator needed (This event is celebrating 40 years this spring!)
- Community Arts Day: We are looking for someone to represent Plank South on the central committee. A portion of funds raised from Community Arts Day goes back to each school’s PTSA, but only if they have a representative on the central committee…..can you help us???

Oak Tree Award Nominations!!
Co-Sponsored by the Webster Teachers' Association (WTA) and the Webster Central PTSA, the Oak Tree Award recognition program is an annual award that is designed to recognize teacher excellence in Webster Central Schools.
Any Webster resident or district employee, current or former student, parent, teacher, or administrative colleague may nominate a teacher for the Elementary or Secondary Teacher of the Year Oak Tree Award. Here is a link to the nomination form!
Award nominees must meet the following criteria:
* Currently teaching in a full-time position in Webster Central Schools
* Have a minimum of 5 years teaching experience in Webster Central Schools
* Plan to continue to teach the next school year in, or retire from Webster Central Schools
* Be a member of both the Webster Central PTSA and the Webster Teachers' Association
Teacher nominees who meet these criteria will receive an Oak Tree Award Application and directions for completing the application process.
