On September 6th they stopped in the Canary Islands and then explored to uncharted seas. On October 12th, 1492, Columbus and his sailors spotted land. They had landed on an island in the Bahamas. He thought he had reached Asia but he did not. There he met the very generous Taino people. After Columbus realized there were no riches or gold, he left three months later to sail back to Spain. Columbus died in 1506 due to poor health. Christopher Columbus's voyage has made a large impact in todays history.

I am Christopher Columbus and I wish to sail to the Atlantic. King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella have agreed to paid the expenses for my voyage. I agreed to bring them back the riches I find from Asia. On August 3rd, 1492, I left on my journey with many other sailors and three ships. After more than a month there was no sights of land. Soon things began to change for me and the other sailors, we saw birds and floating branches. On October 3rd, 1492, we finally spotted land! I knew that I could find a new route to Asia. Here I met the Taino people, who were very nice but I was only interested in gold. I sadly found none within three months of searching to I sailed back to Spain. It is 1504 and I am in very poor health, I die in 1506 believing that I have reached Asia.
