Ms. Hallman's Class News

week of Sept. 8th

Class News

  • Second grade teachers invited Mr Hood into our class to give the students a pep talk about the excessive talking among our classes. We have 25 or 26 in each class and we are having a harder time than usual getting the excessive talking under control. Please remind your child how important it is it to listen and follow the classroom expectation so that they can learn, we all can learn and I can teach. I am proud to announce that the last 2 days I have seen tremendous improvement.
  • Language Arts MAP Wed. September 9th @ 9:50-11:30. 2nd grade will take the same test format as 3rd, 4th & 5th grade so it will look a little different than the test they took in Kind. & 1st grade. Math MAP will be Mon. Sept. 21st @ 8:00.
  • Next week we will continue to work on classroom routines in reading, writing and menu procedures. In math we will continue place value and in social studies we will explore changes in our local community over time, including in the use of land and the way people earn their living.

Assessments /GRADES

This week in your child's communication folder you will find a math assessment, 2 social study assessments on urban, suburban and rural communities and a weekly spelling assessment. Please look over your child's work and initial each of the pages. You will notice the scoring code on each assessment except spelling.

Today we took an assessment on community service workers and completed a GR activity on character, setting, problem and solution in fiction text. Most times that I assess on Friday you wont see the results until the following week.
