Team 10 Core Classes

Language Arts- Bradney

Hello!

We finished the first act of The Diary of Anne Frank last week and completed our first 80% assessment. If your student did not do well on this assessment and wants to retake it, there are still plenty of appointment spots to complete the retake this upcoming week. Remind them that there is a sign-up sheet on the closet door in Ms. Bradney's room.

We will finish with Act II on Monday, September 20th, so we will be reviewing and then completing our second 80% assessment on Wednesday, September 22, 2021. After that, we'll be reviewing a timeline of World War II and how it connects to the Frank family and begin working on our writing prompts for this unit.

Please feel free to email me at kimberlybradney@usd475.org or call me at (785) 717-4863 if you have questions or concerns.

Language Arts- Russell

About Me: I am an 8th grade language arts teacher. I am excited to have the opportunity to get to work with the students, parents, and other teachers on Team 10! This will be my sixth year teaching at Junction City Middle School, but my first year teaching 8th grade! I graduated from Kansas State University. I love coffee, tea, and jazz. My favorite hobbies are reading, writing, listening to music, and playing video games. My wife also works at JCMS as a 7th grade language arts teacher.

See the image below for a detailed view of what we worked on last week. Students have access to the pdf version of the textbook through Schoology to help them complete any homework assignments since they cannot bring the physical textbooks home.

Next week we will create a multimedia presentation and write about how different genres of texts can inform readers about a topic!

Please contact me if you have any questions!

Math- Mrs. Williams

Hello, Team 10!

This coming week we will continue Solving Multistep Equations. Ask your student to share their INB with you so you can see the hard work they are doing in math. An updated copy of my INB is on Schoology in the Notebook folder.

We will have an assessment this week on Thursday. See our weekly progress report or check Skyward for your student's current grade. If your student is absent, they are still responsible for the missed work. Missed work can be found on Schoology.

Click here for a quick tour of our Schoology Page for math.

Homework and Warm Ups due every Friday. (They are on Schoology as well!)

Please feel free to contact me if you have questions or concerns.

Science- Hoyle

We are still working on our 1st unit on collisions. Students got to investigate how different objects get damaged when dropped. Next week students will be looking at how different objects can change shape when a force is applied to them. Students are continuing to think like scientist, while they question and investigate the phenomena around us.

Many of the grades that will be entered the first couple of weeks will be participation or "TRY points". This week they will have a notebook check for their Author's page, Table of contents, and page 11-15. They will have an end of Unit test as soon as we get through answering the questions they created for the unit.

If a student is absent they can check out the Digital Notebook in Schoolgy and look to see if there is anything in the Week 5 folder. They can also email me with questions or for a summary of what we did each day.
