TechConnect May 10th Information
Technology and education go hand-in-hand in Pickerington Schools, and a special event planned for May 10th will give parents, students, and the community a chance to see first-hand how the district is creating 21st-century learning environments.
The community is invited to “TechConnect,” a first-ever event featuring students and teachers sharing how technology is being used to support learning in Pickerington Schools. The event will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 10, at Heritage Elementary, 100 N. East Street.
The event is for all age levels and will begin in the Heritage gymnasium with a technology playground, allowing all attendees to discover and ask questions about various technologies being used by our students and teachers. Featured booths will include how students are using drones, coding, Bloxels, Ozobots, Wevideo, virtual reality, Google Suite, Puzzlets, Digital Clue, student news crews, and more.
After the Technology Playground, guests will move to the auditorium to watch students and teachers present projects they have completed this year. Each student will use the stage to give a 5-minute presentation to present their project. Presentations will include students and teachers from all grades bands. Watch first graders using Ozobots robots, elementary students creating digital books, middle school students creating podcasts, junior high students designing digital portraits, high school students creating and annotating video, and more.
The Pickerington Police Department also will be on hand to present a session on digital safety in our community.

Chromebook Turn In May 16th
Preparing your device
Your child’s Chromebook or tablet must be charged on the collection dates listed below to allow for inspection by district staff. Be sure your student also brings any power cords and district-provided cases, along with the device itself. All juniors and seniors must remove their Apple ID and password from their devices.
Collection dates
All students who are absent on the scheduled days listed below must turn in their devices at their school’s media center on the first day they return to school. Students may not return devices before the days scheduled below.
Fees
Families will be charged the fees below for the cost of devices and associated equipment that are not returned to the district. Those fees will be placed on students’ Infinite Campus accounts. Lost equipment is not covered under the district’s Technology Protection Plan. Seniors will not receive actual diplomas until all outstanding fees are paid.
· Chromebook = $285
· Chromebook power cord = $60
· iPad = $285
· iPad power cord = $45
· iPad case = $35
Building schedules
Each building has created a schedule for device return days.
During their assigned times, students will bring their devices to the media center. Members of the Pickerington Schools Technology Department will inspect them for needed repairs, checking things such as whether keyboards function properly, WiFi connectivity, working trackpads/touch screens, functional ports, and physical damage. Any needed repairs will occur during the summer.
Students who have devices that need to be repaired will receive a statement of needed repairs. Needed repairs will be covered under the conditions of the district’s Technology Protection Plan, which parents had the option of purchasing last fall. Parents who did not purchase that insurance will be charged for those repairs, with costs billed to the student’s Infinite Campus account.
