Troop 483 Weekly Update

This Week

Scoutmaster Minute

This past weekend was a lot of fun. We had a total of 40 scouts and family members take part in the whitewater rafting trip on the Kern River. We couldn't have asked for better weather for a day on the water. Some of our boys already had the merit badge but I believe 17 more completed the program this weekend.

A huge shout out to Mr. Pooley for organizing a great trip. It takes a lot of time to organize a great event like this and we really appreciate all the time spent to make this happen.

Now, onto our summer plans. Our main summer events are backpacking, summer camp, Philmont, then we will close out the summer with a San Clemente Beach trip. Keep an eye out for more information on these events and on local hiking opportunities throughout the summer.

Looking forward to a great summer ahead.

In scouting,

Forest Lawn Covina Hills has invited us to participate in their Memorial Day Flag Placement on Saturday 5/28/22 starting at 8:45 am. We will be volunteering our time to place flags on veteran’s graves. Forest Lawn Covina Hills is located at 21300 Via Verde Drive, Covina, CA 91724. We will be meeting at the front gate at 8:45 am and then walking up to the veteran’s section once we are assembled. Scouts should wear Class A. This is a family friendly event, so families are able to stay and participate, but scouts can also be dropped off. We expect the outing to last until about 11 am, but we can contact parents if we end early. Scouts will get service hours for time spent placing flags.
