Troop 483 Weekly Update
This Week
Scoutmaster Update
Hi Scouts,
This week, we will be preparing for Camporee. As a part of the pre-planning process for any trip or campout, it is essential to check our gear. Even if we are staying close to home, we need to ensure that our equipment is in good working order and that we have everything we need. You wouldn't want to find out in the middle of a trip that you are missing something as simple as a spatula or that you can't cook your food. So, take the time to double-check your gear before heading out.
We will be planning our menus for the camp, and it is imperative that we have a balanced and nutritious meal. I know that it can be challenging to come up with something that everyone agrees on, but we must ensure that all food groups are represented, even for something as simple as lunch. So, please take your time and create a fantastic menu for the weekend.
We have a busy schedule this week. Besides Camporee, we have a Legends Fundraiser on Tuesday, 23rd from 5:00pm to 9:00pm. Join us for dinner and good company, and it's also an excellent chance to complete your next Patrol Meeting!
Attention to all Life Scouts, Mr. Salyards and I will be holding a Troop-specific Life to Eagle program on Wednesday, the 24th. All Life Scouts should attend this program so that we can discuss your progress on your journey to Eagle and identify areas where you might need help. It's important to remember that time moves really fast and for those who will be turning 18 within a year, that deadline will arrive sooner than you think!
On Thursday the 25th at 6:30 pm, we will be going shopping for Camporee at the Stater Bros on Lone Hill. Please coordinate with your Patrol Leader to ensure that you are present and able to get all the groceries you need for the weekend. Also, don't forget to get ICE!
Lastly, we will be meeting at St. Dorothy on Friday at 4:30 pm to pack and get ready for Camporee. The plan is to leave St. Dorothy no later than 5:30 pm to drive down to Firestone Scout Reservation. Hopefully, we can arrive there early enough to go through check-in and set up the camp while there is still some daylight.
See you all tonight!
Yours in Scouting,
Mr. Wellington
