March is Read Across OVCA Month

Kick off March with READ ACROSS AMERICA WEEK!
March BOOK Madness Tournament LAUNCH DAY
March BOOK Madness is a fun bracket-style tournament that will match books in one-on-one "games". We will host 2 separate tournaments. One for grades K-2 and one for grades 3-5. The games will be decided by students casting their votes in weekly surveys. This week we kick this off with our Sweet Sixteen bracket. SOAR has chosen 16 books all from Big Universe. Students are NOT required to read all these book to be able to participate. However, we would love for you to read books here that you like! Each week we will move to a new bracket. Principals will host a live read aloud on March 31st of the winning book in each tournament. Voting survey link has larger pictures of the book covers. Link for each tournament is below!
Book Scavenger Hunt DAY
Choose one of the options below! Try to find as many of these books as you can. Look in your home, look in Big Universe, look online (with your Learning Coach's help!). Have fun scavenging!
Read to a pet or stuffed animal day!
Today is special because you get to read to your pet or a stuffed animal! How fun is that! We would love for your LCs to send us pictures of you reading today! Email student pictures to sirvin@okvirtual.org. Who knows, you may even get a prize! Have fun reading! Dress Up as a BOOK Character DAY!
Have fun today dressing up as any book character you want! Be creative & be silly! Have your LC send us a picture of you today dressed up as a book character. Send student pictures to sirvin@okvirtual.org. Super fun prizes may be heading your way! Read Across America Celebration Outings
SOAR and CFAs are hosting virtual and some in-person outings today celebrating reading! Look in your emails for possible in-person locations from your local CFA. Also, there will be a virtual outing at 1pm. Find it on your CC list. We will have games and guest readers at the virtual outing. Come celebrate books with us!

- ROUND #2 - Elite Eight voting opens March 7th-info will come in email.
- ROUND #3 - Final Four voting opens March 21st-info will come in email.
- ROUND #4 - Top 2 voting opens March 28th-info will come in email
- Winners announced March 31st
- Principal Read Alouds of winning books at noon on March 31st-watch for the CC.

We are super excited to announce that we will have an in-store and a virtual Barnes & Noble Book Fair this month! In-store book fair will be at the Norman, OK location on March 26th & 27th. Stay tuned for more information and virtual book fair dates!!
