General Information

Welcome to PVES! We're glad you're here! We ask that you read through our registration information thoroughly. Any supporting documentation needed is described below. It can be dropped at the school or emailed to pvesregistration@rockingham.k12.va.us. Questions can also be emailed to that address as well. Registering a PreK Student for 2021-2022 School Year

Pleasant Valley hosts a Title I PreK Program each year. We are able to welcome 18 students into this class. These spots are given to students/families who meet criteria set by the state of Virginia indicating a need for school readiness/PreK experience.


In order to be eligible for application into our PreK Program your child must turn four years old by September 30, 2021 and live in the Pleasant Valley Elementary School attendance area. The process for applying includes a parent interview (during the COVID pandemic these may be done by phone or video conference) and child developmental questionaire/screening (again, during COVID these may be done remotely).


PreK Screenings for 2021-2021 School Year - Please call the school office the schedule the parent interview and child screening for our PreK Program. These can be done over the phone, Zoom or in person. We would like to have all screenings complete as soon as possible. Call the school at 540-434-4557 to schedule your appointment.


All families applying for PreK must provide the following documents to the school. Copies can be dropped off to the office or emailed to the following email address: pvesregistration@rockingham.k12.va.us .


Documents Needed to Complete PreK Application & Registration


1. Proof that you live in the PVES Attendance Area

  • Utility bill, rental agreement/lease, purchase agreement/mortgage statement
  • PLEASE NOTE: Driver's Licences are not accepted for this purpose

2. A Copy of the Student's State Issued Birth Certificate

3. Proof of Family Income Level is one of the requirements for VPI Prek that is set by the

state of Virginia. We are required to collect documentation of family income level.

  • Recent pay stubs, W2s or most recent tax return

4. Please also be sure you set an appointment for your student to have his/her physical and immunizations before the first day of school.

  • NOTE: Children will not be allowed to begin school without proof of current physical

and immunizations.


No application/registration is considered complete until ALL of the documentation, screenings and questionaires are done and submitted to the school. Any child/family with an incomplete application cannot be considered for eligibility into our PreK Program.

Registering a Kindergartener for 2021-2022 School Year

Congratulations! You have a Kindergartener! Whether you are registering your first child for school or your last, kindergarten registration is an exciting time! We are glad you are here!


In order to register your child for Kindergarten he/she must turn five years old by September 30, 2021 and live in the Pleasant Valley attendance area. See below for details on required documentation and necessary steps.


All families registering a child for Kindergarten must provide the following documents to the school. Copies can be dropped off to our office or emailed to the following email address: pvesregistration@rockingham.k12.va.us . No registration is considered complete until we have all of these things.

REGISTRATION FOR STUDENTS WHO ATTENDED PREK AT PVES: You will receive an email from RCPS including a snapcode. Use that code to register as a returning student using the link below. You'll need to use the login/password you created last year when you registered your child last year for PreK. You will need to be sure your child has his/her 5 year physical and any necessary immunizations before the first day of school. You can drop record of this off at the school or email a clear photo or scan of his/her immunization record to pvesregistration@rockingham.k12.va.us

Registering New/Transfer Students to the Pleasant Valley Attendance Area

Welcome to our school and community! We're glad to have you joining us! Please refer to the information and steps below to register your child if you have moved to the area and your child was enrolled in another school before you moved here.


We will need the following in order for your child to enroll at Pleasant Valley Elementary:


1. Proof that you live in the PVES Attendance Area

  • Utility bill, rental agreement/lease, purchase agreement/mortgage statement
  • PLEASE NOTE: Driver's Licences are not accepted for this purpose

2. The name(s) and date(s) of birth of the child/children you are Enrolling

3. Your completed online registration form - Link to Online Registration for NEW Students


Our Office staff will request your student's records from his/her previous school. A review of these records will be conducted to verify a copy of birth certificate is present and that his/her physical and immunizations are in order. As parent/guardian, please be sure to share with our staff whether your child had a 504 or IEP at his or her previous school so we can be sure these documents are included in his/her records when they come.


As the final steps in the registration and enrollment process, our staff will communicate with you regarding any additional information needed and also discuss transportation details, teacher/class assignment and start date.
