From our College and Career Counselor
Hello Juniors and Seniors!
I hope that you are having a great week. The College and Career Center wanted to provide some updates below:
TSI Testing (Juniors and Seniors): If you are not considered “TSI Complete”, please make sure to sign up for the May 5th, 2021 In-Person Testing Session by visiting this form. If you need both English and Math, please sign up for both Morning and Afternoon. If you need to know if you are TSI Complete or which test you need, please email Mr. Howell directly. May 5th is the last testing opportunity until Summer 2021
SAT Testing (Juniors) – If you would like to take or re-take your SAT test, the next opportunity is June 5th, 2021. In order to test, you must sign up by May 8th, 2021 through your College Board account. If you qualify for free/reduced lunch, please email Mr. Howell for a fee waiver to test. Please remember many of our institutions are test optional and Mr. Howell strongly encourages not sending your SAT score to an institution until you have met with him. If you have any questions or need help registering, please email Mr. Howell.
We are encouraging all seniors to complete their Senior Poster request as soon as possible. These posters are similar to the ones you have seen in the hallways that denote your plans next year. Keep in mind that we can do a poster for you whether you plan to go to college, enter the workforce, join the military, take a GAP year, etc. We will be giving you a copy of your poster. Instructions can be found by visiting this Google Form.
As a reminder, Mr. Howell is a year round employee and available in the summer to meet with any members of the Class of 2021 or 2022.

From Our Department Heads
LOTE DEPARTMENT
This week, we had students coming in for STAAR, some for the first time this year, some for the first time ever! We wish those students luck and congratulations on getting one exam under their belt!
On a different note, with May approaching tomorrow (wow!) and us heading closer to the end of the final grading period of the school year, it is more crucial now than ever to ensure our students are as caught up as they possibly can be.
Among the many challenges of this school year, one has truly been finding a routine that motivates us to accomplish the tasks we would otherwise have been able to do under the guidance of teachers in each subject. It is easy to fall into procrastination, but this will only create more anxiety and stress as we inch towards the last day of school.
I encourage all students and parents to take a look at Skyward and assess what assignments, if any, need completing or a helping hand so that we all may finish the year as best as we are capable of doing so.
We as educators are here to assist in every way we can, and some healthy communication truly aides in meeting the expectations we collectively set out for our students. We are one email or phone call away!
Have a wonderful weekend.
Cordially,
Wendy Faz
LOTE Dept Chair
Miles of Smiles
Miles of Smiles is a chance for seniors to drive through and see teachers and staff one last time from PHS before graduation. The theme this year is SURVIVOR, as we have all had to Out Wit, Out Play and Out Last this crazy school year! We encourage those who want to, to decorate their cars for the event (safety first, please) and join us as we celebrate the Class of 2021!
2021 Graduations Update
Our biggest and best event every year is beginning to come into view. Graduation dates have already been set and announced. They are provided again below as a refresher.
At this time, we are planning to allow six tickets per graduate. This is subject to change as we could possibly allow for more or fewer tickets depending on the local status with regard to COVID cases and protocols.
The graduation schedule is:
- Connally – Tuesday, June 1
- Weiss – Wednesday, June 2
- Hendrickson – Thursday, June 3
- Pflugerville – Friday, June 4
- Bad weather make-up date – Saturday, June 5
All graduations will be held at The Pfield and begin at 8:30 a.m. We know there are many questions as to what the ceremonies will look like, but many decisions will be based on guidance from local and state health officials depending on the situation at that time. At this time, we are anticipating providing 6 tickets per graduate; however, that could change as we get closer to the date depending on health guidance at the time. We will provide additional information as soon as decisions are made.
Attention Senior Class of 2021
If you have not ordered your cap/gown, please be prepared to purchase your items on the 13th. Cash and/or credit card will be accepted.
In order to participate in the graduation ceremonies, you will need to wear the approved cap/gown.
