Separation of Church and State
How Far is too Far
Is prayer ok at school functions?
In the case Lee v. Weisman the ruling was that no it was not OK for you to force prayer on a students or their families because most events are government held functions. When there is a event at a school yo can not make people be a part of religious activities and having prayer at an event does just that. like in the case when the Rabbi said prayer at the graduation and al the students hand to stand by silently until the prayer was over. That is a clear violation of their right.
To sacrifice or not to sacrifice that is the question?
Is it a crime to practice ritualistic sacrifices?
In the case of Church of Lukumi Babalu Aye, Inc v.City of Hialeah it was concluded that the church had every right to perform religious sacrifices and that the ban violated the First amendments free exercise clause. It is not OK to single out a specific religion. This ordinance specifically went against the Santeria faith. If you are going to ban a religious practice it cant be specified to anyone specific religion.
