MIRROR FACE CHALLENGE
We are excited to be the featured district to launch the #mirrorfacechallenge! APS has partnered with the authors of Mirror Face, a picture book that teaches children to love themselves independently of the opinion of others and build their inner confidence.
In partnership with our SEL Department and APS Partnerships, each student in PreK, Kindergarten, and 1st Grade will receive a physical copy of Jordan Gillman and Michael Tyler's picture book Mirror Face.
Please join us on February 17th @ 12pm: Mirror Face book virtual debut with special guests Dr. Herring & Mayor Bottoms.

Challenge and Activities for the Month of February
FEBRUARY - SEL BOOK OF THE MONTH
I Am Loved; written by Nikki Giovanni and illustrated by Ashley Bryan
There is nothing more important to a child than to feel loved, and this gorgeous gathering of poems written by Nikki Giovanni celebrates exactly that. Hand-selected by Newbery honoree Ashley Bryan, he has, with his masterful flourish of color, shape, and movement, added a visual layering that drums the most impartant message of all to young, old, parent, child, grandparent, and friend alike: You are loved. You are loved. You are loved. As a bonus, one page is mirrored, so children reading the book can see exactly who is loved—themselves!
