Information and updates

Direct donation drive

The Direct Donation Drive is in full swing and we are making progress toward our $5,000 goal!

Combined with funds from the Jog-a-Thon, all donations will go directly into funding playground equipment. If we reach our goal, we will be able to install two stand-alone pieces this summer ready for next year! We will then continue to apply for grants, ask for sponsorship from local companies, and pursue all fundraising options available to us to make larger improvements next year.

If you haven’t already, please donate today!

Please make out checks to the APA.

Adams family movie and board game night

Come join us Friday, February 21st at 6:00 at Adams for a family movie and board game night!

The APA is hosting a FREE fun night of hanging out and enjoying some time together as a community, so bring the whole gang!

We will have two movie options, Horton Hears a Who! (G) will be showing in the gym and Boss Baby(PG) will be playing in the library. We will also have board games in the art room.

Feel free to bring snacks, sleeping bags, comfy cushions and low backed seats so you can kick back and relax!

This is NOT a drop off event, parents must attend with their children! We hope to see you there!

Pe and wellness news

Students began the first third of the lesson with a wide variety of slam ball exercises. Slam balls are weighted (6lb and 10lb), soft balls that allow kids to lift weights safely and creatively. Using the slam balls, we did some drumming in beats of 4 and 8. The last half of the class was devoted to hockey skills: dribbling the puck under control and passing the puck to a partner.

February is Heart Health month. The hallway is filled with heart info. M and F are yoga mornings. T, W, Th are AIM mornings. T and W are dance clubs in the gym. Th is basketball coaching in the gym. There are also plenty of things coming up in March during our annual Wellness Month. Mark these highlights on your calendar:

  • March 20, Free Throw Finals at Lunch. Dance Party at morning break.

Library news

Last week we were so lucky to have so many lovely volunteers reading in the library to celebrate World Read Aloud Day!

- Brown Bear Read Aloud in Korean with information about South Korea and the language presented by Ms. Lee to Ms. Gray’s class

- Ms Daod read Brown Bear in Arabic to Ms Kittle’s and Ms Davis’s classes

Thank you for your time and enthusiasm. Please enjoy the pictures of some of our guest readers below!

This week in Library: K-2 classes practiced library navigation with spine label call number recognition activities while some of the 3-5 classes have been introduced to safe search sites for digital research. These will continue into the next two weeks alongside read alouds and book talks to foster reading engagement.

Box tops

We're a Box Tops school!

Each Box Top clip is worth 10 cents...and they add up! There are 2 ways to collect and donate your Box Tops. Box Tops for Education is going digital, and in the transition they are accepting both clips and scans.

If your package has a traditional Box Top clip, cut it off and send it into school.

If your package has a Scan Your Receipt Box Top, download the free Box Tops for Education App, set your school for Adams Elementary School, and scan your grocery receipts. It's fast and easy!

The next Box Tops submission is due March 1st, but we will be accepting Box Tops all year.

Official OBOB Battles began February 10th and will be held during morning recess (9:45-10:05) until Feb 26th. We will announce our winner that will go on to Regionals on February 26th.Parents are welcome to come and watch but no videotaping is allowed. Battles and locations will be posted on the glass display case. Remind your child to check the display case DAILY & keep on reading those BOOKS!!!

Cards and magnets

Cards and Magnets Needs Your Help!

Each spring parents can purchase cards and/or magnets featuring their child’s artwork. This year we are forming a committee to help with each of the tasks necessary to continue this awesome tradition.

Groups of parents are needed to help:

• Photograph each students’ artwork

• Crop and size each image

• Assemble order forms

• Color-correct purchased images

• Cut, laminate and assemble magnets

• Print and fold cards

• Assemble orders for delivery

If you are interested in helping out, please click here and feel free to sign up for more than one part of the project. Photographing will begin in January, while the other tasks will be completed throughout the spring. Most jobs can be completed at your convenience. If you have any questions, please email Nicole and Sara at
