Pershing News

Dear Parents,

It's hard to believe we are almost finished with first quarter. The quarter has flown by! We have had a wonderful start! I know this year is much different than any of us could’ve ever imagined. Rest assured we are doing everything within our power to ensure that our staff and your child’s experience is a safe and happy one. I would like to thank you for your willingness and cooperation to adjust to the new normal. Our Pershing families have been SO VERY supportive!

Things are getting into a routine and it is amazing to see all the learning that is taking place. While we have had to make some adaptations to what things look like, our Pershing staff is still striving to make learning fun and engaging for our students.

Communication is vital every year, but even more so this year. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to me. You may reach me by phone at (816) 671-4320 or by email at

Educationally Yours,

Holly Brady

Prior to conferences, your child will come home with his/her progress report and 1st quarter data sheet. This will be used to discuss progress during conferences. Please remember all conferences are going to be by phone or via Zoom. If you have not yet signed-up, please contact your child's teacher.

Conference nights are October 27th & 28th

Grade Cards will be going home on Monday, October 26th.

Online Book Fair Click Here

Our book fair will be online this year. It begins October19th and runs through November 1st. This is a great opportunity to add some good reads to your child's at home library OR even could make some great gifts. Who doesn't love books!

  • Students should not be dropped off prior to 8:40.
  • School officially starts at 9:05.
  • Please be sure to pull up towards the bus lane (by staff members directing traffic). This will allow us to drop off several students at once.
  • We ask that you do not go around the cars in front of you. We want to ensure student safety!

  • Kindergarten & 1st Grade car riders will dismiss at 4:05. If you have older siblings please wait until 4:10 to avoid traffic flow backing up.
  • All other car riders and walkers will be dismissed at 4:10.
  • Buses are dismissed as they arrive.

We are offering free breakfast and lunch through the remainder of the school year. If you would like to pick up meals on our Remote Wednesday, please click on the link above to be directed to the website. Meal pick up is from 12:00-12:30.

Coloring Contest:

We will have a coloring page that is sent home with students to work on during their Remote Wednesday. Students can return it on Thursday to be entered into our coloring contest. We will have one winner per grade level!

Face Mask Contest

There’s no reason that a mask has to be boring! Be creative and show us your best homemade design for a face mask. To help celebrate Halloween, we are going to do a Face Mask Contest. Use your artistic ability to design a pattern, something funny, a monster, etc. You can add extra materials to the mask, just please make sure it still covers your child's mouth and nose. There will be a prize for our 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners throughout our Pershing School Family.

We hope this can be a fun family project! If anyone is in need of a mask to participate, please call the office or have your child stop by and one will be provided. Students are asked to wear their mask on October 29th! We will have some judges walking around to help determine our winner.

Window Displays

This year has been difficult not having parents and visitors in our buildings. It is always great to be able to showcase some of the great work of our students in our hallways. Unfortunately right now you can't see it. We have started some new window displays of our students work! Along the outside windows of our building, you will see student work. We encourage you to take time to stop and take a look potentially before or after school, on the weekend, etc. All displays are labeled with the grade level and teacher's names.

Please join PTA!!!! This is a great opportunity to develop a strong school & home connection! While things look a little different this year, we still plan to have several activities in store for the students and families of Pershing Elementary.
