April i-Ready School-Wide Challenge Continues

We have 1 month until the final i-Ready Diagnostic Window (May 2-June 3). We will have our final i-Ready Competition of the school year during the month of April to encourage student engagement with lessons, extend learning and close academic gaps. Our students have done a spectacular job thus far!

April Theme: Scoop-Tacular i-Ready Results

Goal: Each grade will earn 1 scoop of ice cream for every 12 lessons passed. Classes can earn their grade-level 1 bonus scoop of ice cream in math and/or reading each week if 80% of the class has meet their goal of 45 minutes each week.

March Competition Dates: Monday, April 4-Sunday, May 1

Week 3: 4/18/22-4/24/22- Report totals on Monday 4/25/22

Week 4: 4/25/22-5/1/22-Report totals on Monday 5/2/22

Purpose: To increase student engagement with the i-Ready instructional lessons which target specific focus areas for each student based on their individualized fall diagnostic. i-Ready is research based and while it does not replace the core, quality instruction happening in the classroom, it certainly serves as a great way to close gaps and enrich our learners that are ready for the next challenge.

How Can you Help?

Encourage students to take their i-Ready lessons seriously. Teachers will do their best to ensure students have the appropriate number of minutes built into their weekly schedule to complete the recommended number of minutes per week at school (30 minutes for K and 45 minutes for grades 1-5). If students have not been able to complete the recommended amount of time on their i-Ready lessons at school, please encourage them to complete them at home if possible. Unfortunately, at this time, we do not have Chromebooks available to send home with students.

The District is now offering optional COVID testing to our staff, students, and parents. Both Rapid and PCR tests are available. The testing will take place at the Educational Services Center (850 Ladd Road, Building D Walled Lake, MI 48390) on Tuesdays and Fridays from 2-7 p.m.

The COVID testing staff, provided by a third party, will be responsible for letting people in the side door on the south side of the building.

· If you have insurance, your insurance provider will be billed.

· If you do not have insurance, there is a cost of $110.00 for a PCR test and $50.00 for a rapid test - This comes as a result of the Federal Government no longer providing funding for testing.

To set up an appointment for testing, please complete the form below.

Volunteers at Glengary

In the fall, WLCSD Parent Update shared that volunteers would be permitted on a limited basis and to look for a communication plan from the building principal. While we are very excited to see volunteers back in our school, we still need to have a thoughtful plan that does not jeopardize our efforts to keep our community healthy and our students in school. Please note the following details regarding volunteering during the school day:
Big picture
IMPORTANT: Each teacher utilizes volunteers in a different way. Some teachers do not have frequent volunteers. Other teachers use volunteers on a weekly basis. Please respect each teacher’s approach to volunteering and wait for them to share information with parents about volunteer opportunities. Even if your child’s teacher does not request classroom volunteers, there will be many other opportunities. Note: Volunteering in our school is different from visitors/spectators at events during the school day. Visitors or spectators at events during the school day are not permitted at this time.

Thank you for your partnership and understanding as we work thoughtfully to ensure the safety of all.

*Note: Please look for an upcoming communication regarding how Room Parents will be handled during the 21-22 school year.
