Thank You's

I have so many thank you's to give out for last week.

First, thank you to all the parents who helped out on our field trip last Wednesday! It made Ms. Thomas and I's job way less stressful to have all of you there helping out!

Thanks to all the parents who came out to our Spring Sing last week! Ms. Park works so hard with our students and the proof is definitely in the pudding! The concert was a hit and we are so glad some of you were able to join us!

Lastly, thank you SO much for all that you did during Teacher Appreciation week! Ms. Thomas and I are so lucky to have such amazing and supportive families in our classroom.

Students will be participating in a project based learning experience (our Global Zoo) in these last few weeks of school. We will divide the grade level into interest groups and study habitats and what plants/animals need to survive. The students will switch classes Mon-Thurs. 2:10-2:25, research their chosen habitat and animal. The final project will be to present a Non-fiction book to families about the animal they researched.

This is an integrated unit w/ science and writing standards as follows:

Science 1.L.1 Understand characteristics of various environments and behaviors of humans that enable plants and animals to survive.

Writing: W.1.2 Write informative/explanatory texts in which they name a topic, supply some facts about the topic, and provide some sense of closure.

We will provide families more details of the project and the presentation as we get closer to the date.

EOG's

3rd-5th grade classes are just a week and a half away from End of Grade Assessments and still need proctors. If you are interested in helping out, please go to this link to sign up. The more parent volunteers we have helping out, the less teacher assistants they have to pull out of their normal classes to assist in testing.
