Eccles Wednesday News

Below are some school highlights & reminders for the week...

DAYLIGHT SAVINGS - Fall Back

Daylight savings time is this weekend. Remember to set your clocks back one hour.

PIE FUNDRAISER - Results!!

The Willamette Valley Pie fundraiser was a HUGE success. Eccles families sold over 1,200 pies and brought in over $7,000 for the PTA. Those funds will help the PTA with school activities, classroom support, and much more. Way to go Eccles families!

Don’t forget to pick up your pies on November 10th from 3:45-4:45 p.m. in the Eccles West parking lot, they will be setup in the undercover area behind the school. This will allow time for our normal school dismissal and the car pick-up line to clear before parking in the West lot.

NO SCHOOL - Thursday, 11/11

There will be no school on Thursday, November 11th in honor of Veterans Day.

Canned Food Drive

It's that time of year for our annual Canned Food Drive at Eccles Elementary! Beginning on Monday, November 1st students may bring all non-perishable food items to the bin located at the end of their hallway. In addition to a hallway competition, we will continue with our traditional friendly competition between Knight and Eccles Elementary. The school that brings in the most cans will receive the Golden Can Award to display in their hallways! Eccles has been the reigning champions the last 2 years! Help us keep the award by bringing in items to donate by Monday, November, 15th.

MASKS

We are currently handing out approximately 100 masks per week. Please do your best to send a mask to school with your student(s). Thank you!

Library Update

Starting Monday, November 1st, weekly reminder emails will be sent to families of students who have overdue and/or missing books. There is no charge for a late/overdue book. However, if a book has been lost (or never returned), then a replacement fee is charged to the student’s account. If the book is found, no fee will be charged. The reminder email will list the cost to replace the book. A lost book fee can be paid by sending in a check made out to Eccles Elementary with ‘lost book’ on the memo line.

Join Us!

While parent volunteering continues to be on hold until further notice, we do have employment opportunities in our schools for part-time positions like instructional assistants, nutrition services, custodians and more. We are also seeking on-call substitutes for those positions, which would provide even greater flexibility. English and Spanish speakers are welcome to apply. Visit our employment website to view all current opportunities.
