WBMS Friday Notes

Reflections from Ms. Perkins
Happy New Year, WBMS Parents and Guardians –
Welcome back! Reconnecting with students, watching as they hugged and high fived classmates they missed over the break, and meeting our new Jaguars were this week’s highlights. Additionally, collecting old devices and issuing new ones in a smooth fashion thanks to a collaborative community effort was a BIG win. Thank you to the volunteers who assisted with the collection and distribution and to all for supporting students as they saved their materials to the cloud, brought in paperwork, and become familiar with a new device. Also this week, we hosted our yearly Spelling Bee in English classes and then held the school-wide Bee today. Our students represented their knowledge and character throughout the challenge. Congrats to all who participated!
With learning, teaching, and our extracurricular activities back in full swing, it’s hard to believe we just started second semester on Monday. We are focused on another fabulous semester at WBMS! Please take a few minutes to complete the parent climate survey if you have not already done so http://gshs.gadoe.org/parents and encourage your student to dress up and participate in our Webb Way Spirit Week next week.
Have a wonderful weekend and stay warm!

#ReadingImpact
WBMS Parents and Guardians –
As we continue to increase the overall strength of all students’ reading skills, our staff read and discussed the following article on our first day back. I hope you will take a few moments to read it and continue to support this effort at home. Only an additional few moments a day can make a massive impact in their lives.

FBLA
Our January general meeting proved to be informational and fun! Details for the RLC awards assembly on January 22 at AHS was reviewed, and our online competition for the State Leadership Conference was introduced. Registration for these competitive events will be held the week of January 21st. Students and parents/guardians of our chapter members will receive an email with information and registration guidelines. Our students are looking forward to FBLA Spirit Week (February 4 – 8) as fun activities have been planned by our leadership team. And as part of our meeting agenda today, students learned of the guidelines taken when businesses develop their product slogans. So, in the spirit of business slogans, we concluded the meeting with a fun and lively “Quizlet Live” game to challenge our members on fast food jingles.
