Silver Lake Mustang News
December 2021, Volume 5, Issue 4
From the Principal
Happy Holidays!
Students and staff at Silver Lake Elementary had an incredibly busy and productive month in November with parent-teacher conferences, special activities, and even a PTA sponsored fundraiser Fun Run. Pride, the Mustang mascot even got involved in the fun out on the field for running the special track.
Thank you for your participation in the November conferences. The classroom teachers really appreciate the opportunity to meet with families to share the progress our students have made so far and goals for future growth. We value your contributions to the learning process for your children and continue to look for ways to increase family engagement.
We will soon be able to have volunteers in the building again and look forward to having special events in person soon as well. Unti then, we are making the most of our opportunities to offer activities through Zoom or outdoor venues. Please see the dates/times for upcoming events happening in December.
In addition, your feedback is extremely valuable. As part of our Silver Lake learning community, we would like to hear your suggestions for how we might increase family engagement. Please let us know how we can help.
It’s hard to believe this will be our last newsletter of 2021. We wish you all a wonderful month of December and a special holiday break full of celebration and rest.
See you next year!
Silver Lake Principal, Theresa Campbell
From the Assistant Principal
It’s hard to believe December is here already! After such a nice relaxing Thanksgiving break, we are happy to have our students back at school and learning. As the year draws to an end, I want to let each of you know how thankful I am to work with your students every day. I love walking into classrooms and seeing all of collaboration and teamwork happening among students and teachers. It reminds me why I love coming to school!
As we look forward to the new year, I am hopeful to see more volunteers and parents on campus. There are so many ways for you to be a part of the SLE family, including volunteering, joining PTA or Natural Leaders, and becoming a Watch D.O.G.
Stay Warm!

Happy December!
The month of December is a time of celebration for many cultures. We are very lucky that our students represent so many countries from around the world! With the various languages and cultures represented, the students and staff at Silver Lake Elementary learn to respect and embrace others’ beliefs and customs. We are very lucky!
While the holiday time is a time of joy for most families, it can also be a difficult time both financially and emotionally. The American tradition includes gift giving and large feasts that can be expensive. We make an effort in the Silver Lake community to support all families through the holiday season and have partnered with resources in the community. Please visit my website for a list of resources or contact me with questions. https://www.everettsd.org/Page/40158
In an effort to build resiliency in our students during difficult times, our teachers continue to provide social-emotional curriculum to our students through Second Step lessons and I have been supplementing with our Bullying Prevention curriculum. Please check in with your student to find out what they have been learning at school about how to manage conflicts with other students.
As always, contact me for any questions and please have a safe and happy holiday!
