FRANCE AND ITS ROLE

France had their own revolution right after the Americans'. And the irony is that they helped the Americans to help themselves because they were hoping to cut Britain off from their major economy and take them down. But because of their own revolution, they were the ones who fell not Britain.

THE DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE

The DOI was inspired by John Locke's ideas. But Jefferson changed it up a bit such as some quotes. For example, Locke's original quote was "life, liberty, and the right to property" but Jefferson changed it and made it "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness".

THE BOSTON MASSACRE

The Boston Massacre wasn't really a Massacre. Only 5 people died and it wasn't even fair. It was 60 townspeople against 10 soldiers having the ratio of 6:1. One of the 10 soldiers misheard his captain and thought he said 'fire' so that's how the "Massacre" started. Later on, when the soldiers and the captain were put on trail, John Adams defend some of them. The drawing of the Boston Massacre that was featured in the Boston newspaper was a drawing by Paul Revere to stir up emotions among patriots. But the irony is that Paul Revere wasn't even there when the Boston Massacre happened so he basically drew propaganda, making it so that the British were the ones at total fault.

THE INTOLERABLE ACTS

The Intolerable Acts were the cause of the second Committee of Correspondence meeting. In the meeting, the founding fathers created the Olive Branch Petition, which basically stated that the colonies would like to go back to their salutary neglect era with the king, creating peace between the motherland and the colonies. But when the king rejected it, saying that the colonies were in rebellion, the fathers couldn't do anything else but to prepare themselves for war.
