Safety First!

With colder temperatures upon us and winter on its way, we are asking for all families to take extra time, courtesy and caution during arrival and dismissal in the car line. You can click here to access our carline and parking maps. Please share this information with caregivers who may not be familiar with these procedures.

We ask that you immediately contact our school office (847-398-4280) if you witness an unsafe traffic violation. If possible, please note the vehicle license plate, vehicle make and model, and description of the driver.

Additionally, we are hosting a Parent Car Line Forum with Mrs. Sessler in the Dryden LMC on Wednesday, November 13 at 7:00 PM. At this forum, we will review our current traffic and safety procedures during arrival and dismissal. This will also be an opportunity to listen to your suggestions for improving our current procedures. Please RSVP by Friday, November 8 on this form. If you can't attend, you can still share your feedback on the form, and Mrs. Sessler will contact you individually to follow up on your concerns.

We appreciate everyone's care and cooperation to help keep our students safe!

Veteran's Day Breakfast Donations Needed

On Monday, November 11, Dryden hosts a Veteran's Day Breakfast for our local Veterans and their families. We would greatly appreciate some donations. Please click HERE to visit the link to sign up to volunteer your time, paper goods, or food.

Also, all students are invited to wear red, white and blue to show our appreciation for our local Veterans at our all-school assembly. Thank you!

Welcome, Author Laurie Wallmark!

We are happy to announce that the Arlington Heights Memorial Library is bringing Author Laurie Wallmark to Dryden on Wednesday, November 13 to meet with our students in grades 3 - 5. Laurie Wallmark is the author of Grace Hopper, Queen of Computer Code. During her workshop, Laurie will talk about the lives and achievements of two women computer pioneers, Ada Byron Lovelace and Grace Hopper. Then she'll share her own journey as a computer scientist. Laurie will explain why in today's technological world, everyone needs to be computer literate. Most importantly, through her enthusiasm and love of computers, she'll show our students how much fun coding can be. This will be a wonderful experience for our students as we embark on The Hour of Code in December.

Do You Wanna Build a Snowman?

The snowy weather seems to be hitting the Chicago area sooner than expected this year! This is just a friendly reminder that we do go outside for lunch recess if the windchill is above 0 degrees Fahrenheit, so we encourage you to send your students dressed appropriately for the cold weather. Snowpants, boots, hats and gloves are needed for students to play in the snow during recess. Thank you!

PTA Doughnuts with a Grown Up

Please join us on Thursday, November 7 before school at 8:20 AM in the Commons and give your favorite kiddo a chance to have a doughnut with a favorite grown up!

Big picture

3rd Grade Kidz Voice Articles are Due 11/8

Attention all 3rd Graders! This is your opportunity to write an article for the PTA's student newspaper, Kidz Voice! Stories, recipes, poems, or jokes are just some entry ideas. All entries are due by Friday, November 8 to Evie Carlson at evie_cz@hotmail.com. Entries may also be turned in to the school office. Throughout the year, all grade levels have the opportunity to write for Kidz Voice.

Picture Retakes

Our picture retake day is on Wednesday, November 6, 2019. If you haven’t ordered pictures, you can order at inter-state.com/order and use order code:39341SB.

If your child took a picture on our original picture day and placed an order, please send them to school with their original picture package to give to the photographer. Your child will receive the same package with the new photo.

If your child took a picture on our original picture day and did not place an order, they do not need to return anything - they just need to come to school ready to smile.

If you haven’t placed an order, parents can wait to order until they receive the "It's Not Too Late" page if you want to see the photo first. This will give instructions on how to place an order online at that time.

Please note, class pictures have not yet been received. We will send out the class pictures to all parents, regardless of ordering. If you have any questions, please contact Shani Jarrett at info@austinjarrett.com.
