The Hall Way...
Hello Northwood families!
Last week our families received an email with your student's assignment for the D200 Hybrid Plan, the schedule for your student, and the calendar for second quarter. We also mailed home a paper copy. Many parents and students have reached out with questions, so I made a video to help explain the schedule, the calendar, and the safety protocols that Northwood will be putting in place.
Transportation information for the hybrid students will be available this Thursday, 10/15. Directions on how to check your students transportation can be found in the email and letter that was mailed home.
One part of the plan that will be very important for the safety of our school community is the symptom checker that families will be asked to complete each day for your student. The district will be using the Parent Portal for this so all of our families will need an account. Directions on how to set up an account in the portal were mailed home to your address earlier this fall. The letters also contained your access ID and password to link your student to your new account and can be done for multiple students within the district. The Parent Portal can also be used to check your student's grades and attendance. Please click on the image below to take you to the Parent Portal. For further assistance on using the Parent Portal, please call the Northwood Office at 815-338-4900.
This week is the end of the first quarter. Please encourage your student to finish strong and turn in all of their work. Report Cards will be mailed home Monday, October 26.
Please never hesitate to reach out if you need help with anything. Warhawks take care of each other and we are here to work together and support each other. Have a wonderful and groovy week!

All Hybrid students’ parents must use the Parent Portal each day to verify the symptom checker for in-person learning beginning 10/19! Have you signed up for the Parent Portal yet?

Parent Portal vs. Canvas Observer: What's the Difference?
District 200 uses two platforms to both instruct and report grades. Your Canvas Observer account allows you to see course work that is occurring in your student's classes. In Canvas, you will be able to see assignments, quizzes, and material being covered in class. You can also receive email alerts about announcements your student's teacher makes to the class.
In your Parent Portal you will be able to see your student's overall grade in a course as well as individual assignment and assessment grades. While you may not be able to see the actual assignment like you would in Canvas, you can still see some short details about the assignment by clicking on it. The Parent Portal also allows you to see some basic information about your student in the district, such as attendance and their schedule.
For help with either of these platforms, or to get signed up with an account, please contact the school.
Food Services News
District 200 will continue to provide free meals to ALL D200 students, regardless of free, reduced-price, or paid status. However, effective Monday, Sept. 28, there will be changes made to food pick-up options, and NEW delivery routes and schedules.

What to do if your student needs support?
We understand that students struggle at times and that they may need additional support. There are a variety of structures and supports we have in place and are planning for in order to support students during Remote Learning.
Skills labs are a required class for students that occur every other day on B days. During this time students are able to access their teachers. Students sign in with their Skills Lab at the beginning of the period and then teachers have open Google Meets appointments during this time to allow for students to drop into their skills lab for additional support. Students with Ds or Fs in classes are expected to be working with their different teachers during this time as this is the best way for them to have direct contact with a staff member.
Asynchronous Fridays: The vast majority of a student’s day on asynchronous Fridays allows them to partake in individual or small group support with their teachers. Teachers have pre-assigned and scheduled meetings with students who have exhibited struggling with content. Please be sure to reach out to teachers as they can offer support by scheduling these meetings with your student or even with you as a parent.
Woodstock North High School National Honors Society and Peer Tutoring We are finalizing plans to offer additional tutoring support from WNHS like what we have had in the past. More information will be coming soon on scheduling and timeframes of remote tutoring to support students who may be struggling in certain subjects.
Thank you to our NMS families for supporting our students and staff during remote learning. We appreciate you!
How can the NMS families stay connected and informed?
During this time we are trying to provide different opportunities for communication with our students and families. So where can you go to stay informed?
