April Wellness Event
PTO Boosterthon Fun Run!
Hello Brookside Families,
The Brookside PTO is excited to announce the upcoming Boosterthon Fun Run fundraiser! The fun run will take place on Friday, April 12th. Leading up to the event we will have a few very short "pep rallies". These pep rallies will take place during lunch time or morning announcements. No actual class and/or teaching time will be used for them. The purpose of the "pep rallies" is to get the children excited for the upcoming event and to help build 21st century character traits.
On the day of the event, the run will be completed in two different sessions. Grades K-2 will run together, and grades 3-5 will run together. The event will be held outside on the large field (inside if we have inclement weather). There will be a track set up and the children will move around the track in various ways (running, jumping, skipping, walking backwards etc.). Upon the completion of each "lap", each student will receive a sticker that will be used to keep track of the number of laps they complete. Teachers and staff will be there to assist students in keeping track by marking their stickers.
Students are encouraged to get family and friends to sponsor them. They can collect a certain amount per lap or a flat donation. All students will participate in the event regardless of whether they received donations or not.
This will be a fun school wide event. We thank you for your support with this event. If you have any questions please feel free to reach out.

March is National Nutrition Month
The students and staff are being given the challenge of trying to eat more fruits and vegetables. Starting March 4th and ending April 12th, a specific color(s) will be chosen for a week. Classroom tallies will be kept for each week to see which grade eats the color during their snack time.
Please encourage your child and family to try different fruits and vegetables, as well as increasing your daily intake of water. :)
