PK3.3 - Peek at the Week
28th November - 2nd December
Hello PK3.3 parents!
Our box unit has sparked children’s imagination, making exciting creations and discoveries. This week we have focused on the characteristics of boxes. We have looked at different shaped boxes from our collection such as rectangular (toothpaste box), triangular (specialty chocolates in triangular boxes), cubes (tissue box) and cylinder (oatmeal container). Children were invited to build structures using the different boxes, while in the discovery center they explored, measured and compared boxes using yarn and measuring tape.
We also pondered about the differences and similarities between three-dimensional and two-dimensional objects. Children learned that two-dimensional objects can be measured only by their length and width (i.e. flat), while three-dimensional shapes can be measured by their length, width, and height (i.e solid). Shapes were also reinforced playing the game “I’m thinking of a Shape” where children guessed the shape with given clues and descriptions.
Have a great weekend
