UPCOMING EVENTS!
This Week!
National Bullying Prevention Awareness Month!
October is National Bullying Prevention Month
We get to kick it off with wearing a BLUE shirt and jeans on Monday!
I'll make an announcement at the start of each week for the weekly theme students can participate in within the classroom and around campus. Here is the link to the "Stomp Out Bullying" website.
The Week of October 21st
Week of Inclusion
- Don't let anyone at school eat alone in the cafeteria or on a school field trip. Make it the week of #NOONEEATSALONE
- Include other students in school activities
- Include other students in after school activities
- Invite someone you don't know that well to sit next to you on the bus. Learn about each other.
The Week of October 28th
Start the Week With Conversations Amongst Your Peers
- Meet with fellow students and discuss how you can Change The Culture at your school.
- Use our Student Participation Toolkit to begin conversations on how your school can be judgement and bully free.
Hold a discussion in your classroom where you allow students to openly speak and discuss their experiences with bullying and cyberbullying, and how these experiences have effected them and how they dealt with these moments.

Math is Everywhere!
Math in Action!
The best part about math is that it’s everywhere you look and we use it everyday! With that in mind it’s a cinch to help your students practice wherever you are! If you are stuck in traffic take that time to quiz your kiddos on their multiplication facts, 3rd-5th.
When you’re at the grocery store have them show off their rounding skills by asking them what dollar amount the items you need are closest too! For example if a carton of eggs says it’s $1.62, is it closer to $2 or $1? A sweet treat is a great motivation tool and learning manipulative! Lay some out and encourage your student to eat some and then ask questions such as, “Do you have more or less than before you ate some?” Small snacks also work great as counters! “How many blueberries do you have on your plate?” “If I take two away how many do you have left?”
Let’s not leave math in the classroom, let’s make sure we see math in action everywhere!
