Lombard District 44 Update
E-Learning Edition: Communications, Technology, Food Access
Supporting Families During This Next Phase of E-Learning in District 44
Wednesday marks our official start to this expanded form of e-learning. To support our community with this transition, we have dedicated this newsletter to focus on three critical priorities: communications, technology & access to food. Below you will find more specific information on each area.
We also want to continue to encourage our community to review our "Distance Learning Guide" which houses all critical pieces of information about this next phase of e-learning.
We know this comes with much anxiousness for our staff and families as we continue to navigate these uncharted waters together. However, please know how committed we are to staying connected with each of you during this time.
Our central focus is ensuring the health and safety of our students and staff. All of us are being impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic in differing ways, and we want to offer our students flexibility, support and comfort during this time.
How this will occur is by maintaining our connections through Google Hangouts, phone calls home, posting videos, having virtual office hours, ongoing posts to social media, newsletters and more.
What we want all of our families and their children to know is that we can never replicate our classrooms on virtual platforms. However, we can stay connected. And we will, together.
Communications: Where to Find Information You Need During This Challenging Time
On Tuesday, we launched a new portion of our Remote Learning website, which now includes the "Communications Hub." Here you will find all of our communications, listed in timeline format. We will continue to post all of our messaging here, along with the main pages of our district and school websites.
In addition, we frequently post to our various social media accounts. We encourage you to follow the District 44 Facebook Page, District 44 Twitter and District 44 YouTube Channel.
Technology: Access to Devices & Ongoing Support
If your device breaks or malfunctions
Moving forward, should your device break, we ask that you visit the "Technology Support" button of the Remote Learning website. Here you will find helpful information to troubleshoot issues you may be experiencing. Additionally, you may complete a form if you are in need of more specific support.
For families who did not pick-up a device or are in need of a device
Families should contact their building principal. The principal will work with the family on determining a time where they can pick the device up.
