Bobcat Bulletin
Keep Going Keep Growing
A Message from Mrs. Anderson
Our Bobcat Leaders are well on their way to making Quarter 1 a huge success! Last Friday we had our first annual school wide Buddy Classroom Day! Students in all grade levels partnered with various classrooms on campus to meet their accountability partners for the school year. If you are ever looking for a conversation starter with your child, be sure to ask about their buddy classroom experience.
With the start of September finally here, we approach our first SAC (School Advisory Council) meeting of the school year. Please consider joining us on September 20th @ 7:30 am in the media center. We will be discussing school data, our school wide goals and initiatives, as well as exciting events we hope to have on our campus throughout this school year.
Finally, attendance will be a major focus during this school year. Please remember that student start time is 8:00 am (please arrive before 7:55 for breakfast) and dismissal is 2:55 pm. It is very important that our students are in school, on time, every day! Attendance Ambassadors are updating our school wide attendance bulletin boards and we hope your child can celebrate with us for being in school, every day!
Thank you,
Attendance Matters
Parents/Guardians are responsible for their child’s attendance. Being in school daily and arriving on time, are important for academic success. Attendance is important to academic success and we will work with all our students to help them achieve their best potential. We understand that there are reasons that students will need to miss school and we stress that communication with the school is key in working through attendance issues.
How can you help?
- If your child is going to be absent - please call the front office 239-377-9200 to inform front office staff.
- Work together to schedule appointments outside of the school day.
- If appointments occur during the school day or for illness, a medical excuse will excuse the absence.
State Testing K-2
The Florida Assessment of Student Thinking (FAST) is a progress monitoring tool that will be administered three times per year to track your student’s progress in learning the Benchmarks of Excellent Student Thinking (B.E.S.T.) Standards throughout this school year.
Students in K-2 will take Renaissance Star Early Literacy, Star Reading, and/or Star Math assessment(s) on September 7 and September 8. Your student’s results from PM1 are for informational purposes only, and your student’s school will provide you with information about how to access the results after testing is completed.
FAST assessments are computer-adaptive tests taken on a computer or tablet. The questions get easier or more difficult depending on how the student responds, and each student will see different questions.
If you or your student would like to review Star Early Literacy, Star Reading, and/or Star Math sample items at home, sample test items are available at https://flfast.org/resources/renaissance-star/renaissance-star

State Testing 3-5
The Florida Assessment of Student Thinking (FAST) is a progress monitoring tool that will be administered three times per year to track your student’s progress in learning the Benchmarks of Excellent Student Thinking (B.E.S.T.) Standards throughout this school year.
Students in grades 3-5 will participate in the first administration (PM1) of the Florida Assessment of Student Thinking (FAST) Reading and Mathematics assessment[s] on September 9 and September 12. Your student’s results from PM1 are for informational purposes only, and your student’s school will provide you with information about how to access the results after testing is completed.
FAST assessments are computer-adaptive tests taken on a computer or tablet. The questions get easier or more difficult depending on how the student responds, and each student will see different questions from a common item bank. Each test attempt (PM1, PM2, and PM3) will present 35–40 items that will cover the entire test “blueprint,” meaning students will encounter items representative of the standards within the subject or grade level.
For more information on the test design, please visit https://www.fldoe.org/accountability/assessments/k-12-student-assessment/best/
If you or your student would like to interact with the online testing platform or review FAST Reading and Mathematics sample items at home, sample test materials are available at https://flfast.org/families.html
For more information about the FAST program, please visit the portal at FLFAST.org.
