From the Principal:

We have had quite a busy return to school. Between Covid reporting and a new traffic route the entire team has been stretched, but not broken. Thank you for your patience and kindness with the staff supporting the traffic route, Nurse Jen notifying you of your child's return to school date and the ever changing rules and Mrs. Sue keeping up with the attendance codes for students out with Covid or on quarantine. Here are a few announcements and reminders.

  • Please notify your child's teacher and nurse Jennifer_Floyd@charleston.k12.sc.us if you or your child tests positive for Covid. Our school is only as healthy and safe as the information we have about Covid. Please help us keep everyone in school and MPA classrooms open.

  • We are not able to excuse Covid absences after the fact. Please let us know if your child his home due to being a close contact (or testing positive). If we are not aware of the case prior to your child returning we will not be able to excuse the absences.

  • Masks are required for all students, staff and visitors while inside of school buildings. This rule has been extended until March 14, 2022.

  • Below is the most up-to-date information regarding Covid positive cases and close contact cases. NOTIFY THE SCHOOL OF POSITIVE OR CLOSE CONTACT AS SOON AS YOU ARE AWARE. The quarantine period for Covid illnesses has been shortened to 5 days, however any students who are symptom free for 24 hours and return after that period will be required to wear a mask on days 6 - 10.

  • Pre-K/Child Development application process opens on Tuesday, January 25. Click here for more information.

  • Don't forget to have your child in uniform everyday. We only have one casual day a month (unless you have casual day passes).

  • When visiting MPA please have on a mask, you will be asked to put one on before entering the main lobby area. Thank you for your support and patience.

  • We ask all parents to follow the traffic pattern. We will keep this pattern for the rest of the year (as long as the construction doesn't require a change). Please be kind to our staff directing traffic and rerouting you. Their goal is the safety of all students and staff.

As always, take care of yourself!

CCSD Covid Testing Sites

PCR and Rapid Antigen Tests will be available. The tests are for asymptomatic and symptomatic students and staff. This is a quick and easy process. A third-party vendor assigned by DHEC will conduct the tests. A consent form will need to be completed in advance of testing. Directions to download the testing app to complete the consent form can be found here or at https://rrtesting.app/SCSchools.
