Finding an Idea is the first step of 6 Traits of Writing

  • The topic you chose should fits the assigment topic and interest you
  • include details such as facts, thoughts,feeling, and examples


For writing to have organization you need to have green, yellow, and pink

  • Green is for conclusion and
  • Yellow is for topic sentences for each paragraph
  • Pink is for details like facts


With Voice you will need to have a voice like putting words in your own way.

  • put good word choice
  • show rather than tell

Word Choice

If you don't have good word choice your paragraph or sentence you will become boring.

  • use exciting adverbs and adjectives
  • If you chose to not have good word choice you will be BORING!

Sentence Fluency

Effective writing flows smoothly from one sentence to the next.

  • use a variety of begging words and lengths
  • use simple, compound, and complex


Good writing is carefully edited to make sure it is easy to understand.

  • edit using COPS
